    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

Picked up two more points buying off the support at 1008.5, that used to be resistance when we were in the morning range.

Get lost. Keep tweaking your indicators and one of these days you will find a system that backtests profitably.

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

I'm using the same indicators as I am for my breakout trading. I'm not using all their fancy-schmancy computer crap to define ranges for me. I can tell that by looking at the damn chart. I'm actually a little suprised you have this attitude. You have already said you have a few other tricks...

Mr. Rotten, Out of curiousity, did you make this method up yourself? Read about it somewhere?

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

One neg of range trading is I was so pissy about my last trade going south I nearly missed that breakout!

My BB is on 10 simple mov. avg, with 1.8 STDV. What is yours?

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

I took it. No BB penetration on the spike but I was trading the range, and then the range broke, so I called it a breakout. Closed out a minute ago for 4 pts. Was going to hold for more but we are nearing lunch time, so I got out. Anybody else take this? Between this and my range trades, I...

Daytrading Rangebound Days in the ES

I used this to trade today. I basically picked where the values should be, placing them a little under the extremes. I made three trades, 2 good, 1 bad, for a net gain of 2.75 pts a contract. The down arrows show where I shorted at 1008, and the up arrows where I covered at 1006. The last...

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

JR, this method is great, but don't you think you are being a little harsh on the range-bound thread? What is wrong with having another tool up your sleeve? I found the range method quite simple and logical and have already used it to pull $100 out of a contract today, when it became clear...

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

I actually almost went short after the 3:15 low was violated. Even though it was well inside the bollinger bands that wide range pattern that formed up around it just looked bearish to me. Again, I chickened out though. Looks like this would have been a good trade. I hope I'm not diverging...

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

I'm not really sure why I passed on it. I didn't like the price pattern. Just didn't feel right, I guess. Cowardice?

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

I went short in YM under the low I have underlined. I know it is too early for the system, but I thought that volume was high enough to warrant a trade. Took profit at $100 where the arrow is pointed and am waiting now for a "real" signal. Edit to add: Looking back, I got pretty freakin...

So basically pullbacks are less mechanical and done more on instinct, with good stops, if I understand correctly.

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

Talk about retracements! Come on, throw somethin' down for the little guy! My trade today, went short at 1007.75 on the pivot breakout in the 10:35 bar, covered at 1007.50 two bars later. I know that is a sissy stop, but I need to protect my capital at the moment. I figure the good trades...

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

Looks like you stopped out when the previous pivot low had been touched but not violated at 103.75. If I was up 2k for the day I would probably have waited for 103.50 before stopping out. :)

OK I heard back from nextrend, they don't do European markets. What charting/data service would y'all recommend. I'd like to keep it under $100 a month, but I have heard bad things about mytrack reliability so someone besides them.

    Daytrading Breakouts in the ES

I am using nextrend, and those don't work in mine. For example, my symbol for the SP500 is ESI3'CM. The I is the month code, 3 is the year code, and CM is the market they trade on. Edit to add: Never mind. I emailed the customer support. No sense bugging you guys about it. Lets get...
