    Fair Value Gaps

Amen! People really love to waste time arguing semantics here. But I like your idea alot: of comparing how gaps fill (or don't) on trending vs ranging days. Not sure what to do with it yet, but it's def sparking some ideas for tweaks to how my system currently works. Thanks!

    Fair Value Gaps

Good point. Is there another term for gaps likely to be filled I should be utilizing instead? Because I've gotten good results anticipating gap fills off the daily chart and based on premarket gaps so far.

You didn't offer any insights on my threads: Pivot points and Initial Balance. Share your bountiful wisdom on technical analysis!

I've started plenty of threads on topics like Initial Balance and Pivots Points. Why don't you take a look at those and give your thoughts.

PS— Looked into curve fitting and I'm definitely guilt of a little bit of that. Good tip, thanks

Good points again, but I'm actually prone to the other version of recency bias: if something DOESN'T work recently, I convince myself it's flawed and needs to be tweaked, forgetting all the months of data showing it does work over time but can have rough patches. Need to stop doing that and be...

I appreciate your honesty. I just also get the impression you're mainly here to banter back and forth, and I'm not.

Appreciate all of this but especially your point about settling for good enough and letting that free your brain up for other things. I'm at that stage where my system is pretty much complete and it seems clear I have a demonstrable edge based on about 18 months of backtesting the one stock I...

Followup question if I may, since you actually seem to post substantive answers. Any pointers on the art of drawing boxes? I've been experimenting with them a lot lately for daytrading entries: drawing the widest/tightest reasonable box, ignoring wicks altogether and boxing only the candle...

Honest question: you think if I asked SimpleLikeMe a more specific question I would've gotten a more specific answer? I was just asking him a token question to show he'd spin his semantic wheels as usual. Now that we got that outta the way, agree 100% on your assessment of the value of boxes...

This place is so odd. Doubt you'll disagree. People will argue semantics here til the cows come home, but ask a specific TA question and you get snark and crickets.

You're right. Covel's book was a fun read.
