NYSE Specialist - Stay or Go - vote here

My summary is an accurate intrepretation of your article, which can be seen by anyone who can read. The article is an update on old news. The NYSE has settled. They admitted no wrong doing. They made the appropraite remedies. Case closed. You post no meat, only innuendos again! Stand...

NYSE Specialist - Stay or Go - vote here

This is completely innacurate. I doubt a single person here profits because of any corruptness, real or imagined. What do you mean by this? There appears to be no logic in it.

NYSE Specialist - Stay or Go - vote here

Yes I've read your article. I could not miss it since you have posted it all over ET numerous times! The article tells the tale of an extensive TWO YEAR investigation into the NYSE from top to bottom. It appears to have been a very thorough and meticulous one. I am sure that no stone was left...

Very good Mr. Nader. I do have one other alias that was intitiated long ago on a laptop, from which I post perhaps 3-5 times a year. However, I have not voted even once in this poll at all. What is your point? If this is a burning issue for you and it is causing you to lose sleep, feel free...

QQQQ trading system for a hedge fund

Ahhh yes indeed. He said 5% of his cut. I missed that. Now I know with certainty this is an April Fool.

QQQQ trading system for a hedge fund

Any lucky fool with a consistently profitable index system can easily and quickly build his own capital/leverage/buying power to run it himself without giving away 95% of it. This offer sounds like a joke, are you putting us on? I know this must be an early April Fools, but if I'm wrong...

Good Job!!! You found the time again to re-post this article exposing all that nasty corruption at the NYSE. Ralph Nader has nothing on you! You are doing society a tremendous service worthy of the nobel prize!! In a similar vane, here is my expose' of corruption abound in other areas of...

What is actually absurd is that one would compare a fixed fee to a market inefficiency which can create tradeable opportunities. Anyway, the bias of the poster is plain and clear, which would explain the clouded argument.

NYSE Specialist - Stay or Go - vote here

I suppose this means that you see a fixed cost of doing business as an inefficiency, something that can be compared to a market inefficiency which can provide a trading opportunity, is that what you mean to say? Oh, I'm sorry; you said nothing... just innuendo-speak.

NYSE Specialist - Stay or Go - vote here

I'm not sure why a static fee is being compared to an inefficiency. The fees and costs a trader pays is not an inefficiency.

On this issue, yes. I should have included in the poll a seperate choice for automated traders, since they can legitimately benefit from an all electronic market. As for discretionary types... inefficiency=opportunity=potential profit. Also, discernable patterns of human behavior...

NYSE Specialist - Stay or Go - vote here

There is a lot of heated debate on the specialist threads. It seems as polarizing as Roe v. Wade. I think the specialist haters are more vocal, while the more experienced astute traders quietly understand the former's foolhardy thinking. Here is the chance to vote. The poll is broken out...

    Overnight leverage

I think if you read between the lines, you can see how Don protects himself from the scenario you described (a position leveraged 30 times gapping down 50%). He gave an example of not being worried about a 10k share position gapping down 30 points. I read this as meaning that he imposes max...

    Servers Anyone?...

You just answered your own question. Most traders are not techs. Can you give us more details about your setup, it sounds interesting. Do you use a station with a kvm to control everything? I just did some reading on kvm extenders, which I had never heard of before, and if they work the...

Short squeeze: Next trend for hedge funds & day traders?

And that will quickly be followed by another trend of shorting that squeeze. This cycle has been going on since there were markets; there is nothing new about it, it's just new to you, so please kill this thread (just kidding).

    Is Economics rubbish? (serious discussion)

Since market prices reflect the perception of value based on future projections, the economist's future projections in relationship to other's who have already placed their bets (priced it into the mkt) relative to his at the time he makes his bet is more a determining factor as to if he can...
