NYSE Specialist - Stay or Go - vote here

You certainly picked out an absurd comment from this thread, but not nearly as absurd as this (my personal favorite):

NYPost:Floor Traders/Specialists are Losing money on the new hybrid system

I suppose the answer would be the same as the answer to the question: would anyone feel sorry for you, if at some point the market becomes so efficient that you no longer have a bankable edge since you could not "change with the times".

What Happened to that Martingale Strategy Thread?

I think Shaw and Renaissance did not like their bread and butter being publicized.

Geez, another example of how being consumed and engrossed by trading can be detrimental to the other arts.

They must be trading that relatively small universe of stocks for a reason, don't you think?

This seems odd, unless they hold a lot of less popular stocks and they are just excellent stock pickers, otherwise I couldn't figure a reason for a correlation, especially since many times stocks run up ahead of earnings then sell-off on the news. By the way you can get much more timely holdings...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Seasoned, you sound like many many guys that I know who learned trading in the mid-late 90's who got accustomed to reading the tape, scaling in to big sized positions shadowing institutional buyers and sellers and being able to exit with a reasonable gain without too much slippage because there...

    Naz / MM questions

Great points, bingo and yahtze too, since equally if not more prevalent I think is how poor trading is written off as "specialist manipulation".

Good points. You make a good case that if one wanted to draw a 100% concrete conclusion from this (if that would even be possible) as to whether having stocks with one dealer available for trading is a pro or con to traders and their profitability, it would be necessary to not only poll, but...

What is even more poignant is the fact that the only category of traders where the majority votes the specialist to go continues to be that of the unprofitable traders.

1000, I do not think that my good friend Rockford is willing to respond to the questions that you or I posed. I tried also to stimulate the discussion by trying to encourage him to expand on what he meant when he said that we need more choice and competition, and that companies need more and...

More of the same from my friend. You are free to ignore this thread. You seem obsessed by it though; not healthy imo. I suggest finding something more productive. The record shows I have not lied nor harassed you in any way. Good Luck.

You sound like a crybaby and I and others have enjoyed the entertainment of your rants and whines, but it's getting way off-topic. Anyone wanting to know what you posted can read your posts. Your posts were quoted whenever a question was posed. If you do not like this thread, do not post...

I will respond to this after I finish Laughing - LOL It appears that the building poll results appears to really be getting to this poster, now he even wants to suppress them. How old are you?

Well put. That certainly would be capitalism operating at it's finest. It's nice to actually get a mature response on this thread, or any response at all. Are you saying then that there is a demand (or need) for more exchanges than we currently have, as Rockford was implying? If so, what do...

LOL - You sound completely whacked, son. More of the same pitiful obfuscation defense tactics used when losing. You have been exposed and your argument ripped to shreds. Thanks anyway... for the laughs.

I said that your quote was in my post, so that there should be no confusion. Your whining about semantics is pointless. "No choice" is a figure of speech for "little choice" or "less choice"... just as when you referred to the "mob" or "mafia" at the NYSE. Got it? I asked you then four times...

More of the same. We ought to have a running counter of the number of times that you "refuse" to answer a question because your arguments are weak and easily ripped apart. At least that would be good for a laugh.

My use of the term "no choice" was meant to convey just what you said, which you now clarify as "much less choice". There could be no confusion because I quoted you! Open your eyes! I asked you then how much choice do they need? How many exchanges do you propose we need for companies to choose...
