    Great entries, horrible exits

I call nonsense on nononsense. Dare I say it but all traders and systems manage open positions. In my book that is the primary job of a system or trader once a position is open.

    Great entries, horrible exits

I can't really advise you because I approach things differently. But for me understanding my own weaknesses and devising an exit strategy that works off from my strengths has helped me. Also, through repetition you can train yourself to react differently. My primary function as a trader is to...

    IB new forex spreads

Thanks. Yes knowing position is crucial. You might want to check out this thread on the slow MKT order problem if you haven't seen it already, particularly the comments by Mr NBBO: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48040&perpage=40&pagenumber=1

    IB new forex spreads

Miami, Can you elaborate on this a bit? NBBO posted something similar on slow market order fills in a prior thread. As far as I know using a LMT order is the solution to the slow MKT order problem. Is this slowness that you experienced with the IB simulated market order or with a limit...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

Instant fill and 3 seconds to report a fill or 3 seconds before filling an order? If it is really 3 seconds to execute then the market isn't what you see is what you get. def wrote:

    Momentum Strategies

I have a momentum system that I trade off from on occasion. I have to monitor the market for the right conditions - wide swinging, and typically the system's profits and losses are a good indication of what future signals will bring. Over time the system has shown to be about break even. Can you...

A Bad Experiance w/ Brandon Fredrickson

I tried out the room "trading from main street" or something like that a while back when it was getting started and during its free phase. I was impressed at the amount of time Brandon and Toni put in chatting after hours. The low level of the chat room participants (newbies worshiping) put me...

How to change from futures book scalper to longer term trader

Banjo and qaz have it correct. It probably boils down to fear and a desire to control risk. Think about where you're coming from: a tightly structured world where short term controlling risk and banking profits is paramount. Think about where you're trying to go based on your method's...

    CME currency market makers

Pabst, Thanks for that information. Is there anywhere on the CME's site (or do you know the #?) where I could find out the # of market makers for each market? Specifically I'm interested in EUR GBP CHF.

    Globex currencies down?

    Globex currencies down?

Last time this happened, I had the same issue - order in then system went down. I called my broker - they called Globex and confirmed no order was in their system. You might call your broker to confirm if your order is on Globex and if they can cancel it.

    forex or futures?

It really depends on your account size and needs. This topic has been discussed before. Here are some threads that more or less address your question. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=793441&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending

Zen and The Art of Trading

The guy who wrote the review had 30 years experience at Kyudo vs. Herrigel's 3 years experience. As far as Kyudo is concerned, the reviewer has a much better understanding and perspective. However, when I read the book I had no interest in actually learning archery, but more about zen, and as...
