Thanks for the name calling. You're right shit like 2008 gave them a bad rep (although I don't want to give the folks who oversized their house and income projections a free pass either) - but that's more than 10 years ago and time eventually helps people to forget. However messing with the...

What a rigged setup - I'm short via a spread too and want GME to close below 70 by March expiration but more importantly I'd like to have a somewhat fair marketplace. Tin foil guys are saying that the short funds talked to their clearing house buddies and limited new GME trades to closing only...

    GME Trading Issues

I couldn't do a spread on TD - but then I entered the legs individually on IB and that went through just fine.

Interesting approaches by everyone. Thanks for sharing. I write most of my stuff to google sheets and access via the phone that way. I never have been in a situation where on a trading day I couldn't ssh/vnc/log into the machine and manually shut things down - but when it has to happen it...

    Cyber attack

This is the mother of all hacks imo (regardless who's behind it). You can assume that all major financial institutions are impacted by this hack - solarwinds had 425 of the fortune 500 companies as their customers. Once hackers establish persistence in these networks it's really hard to get...

Who needs to look at actual studies when your logic could have saved time and money - did you stay at a holiday inn express to become an infectious disease expert?

Santelli vs Sorkin - Masking Debate

We may have a different understanding of what "works" means. Here's what the study says - I'm sure you read it The between-group difference was −0.3 percentage point (95% CI, −1.2 to 0.4 percentage point; P = 0.38) Although the difference observed was not statistically significant.... >>>>> So...

Santelli vs Sorkin - Masking Debate

Granted everyone seems to be an infectious disease expert here but some "science" studies tend to find something different https://fee.org/articles/new-danish-study-finds-masks-don-t-protect-wearers-from-covid-infection/ It's just the largest study on this subject to date - so I'm sure we're...

Santelli vs Sorkin - Masking Debate

What I see is out there is ridiculous forecasts based on fear mongering https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-pandemic-08-21-20-intl/h_6f8ce2cf0a4ff534fc8bbf48f4374250 I also see a lot of inconsistencies in how countries handle that (remember sweden) with no significant difference in...

I missed the difference when the former fed chairwomen is soon to be running the treasury and when I see Powell and MNuchin buddying up https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-55136504 https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/24/watch-live-powell-and-mnuchin-testify-before-the-senate-covid-relief.html That...

Santelli vs Sorkin - Masking Debate

You'll have to ask yourself if you want the government to "control" this or decide this for yourself. If you feel this is too risky for you - nobody is forcing you to eat out. On the other hand if you've had the virus already and have anti-bodies you may not be that worried.

Santelli vs Sorkin - Masking Debate

The solution is pretty easy (easy != comfortable) - let the free market handle things. If that means letting borrowers or companies crash and burn then so be it - every time the government gets involved we're all worse off.

Retired, 450k fun money, lets see what happens - SPY Options

Not easy selling naked calls in a roth IRA. I know tastyworks offered for a while but not sure they still do - TDA/Schwab, IB don't - who would you use for that? Here's where they originally announced but then they had some hiccups afterwards...

    Problems with TD Ameritrade

I agree TDA has some issues but they are far and few in between. It's a solid broker and you would not regret opening an account with them. IB is more stable on crazy wild days but the platform does a fraction of what TDA offers, you'll probably need some additional charting on top of IB . I...
