    Let's talk routing...

I agree, but in most cases traders aren't top or bottom ticking the move and would be better off waiting for a fill.

    Let's talk routing...

The IEX router hits everything, they don't have to be sitting on IEX.

    Let's talk routing...

It's been a while since I posted anything here, but this holiday zombie market has me wondering how to fill the time. So, let's talk about routing. It's an area that most new traders don't focus on, or realize the importance of. A good routing strategy is an integral part of your overall...

    Nasdaq's ELO orders

HFT can earn more for all I care as long as it doesn't affect my fill rates. Even Nasdaq doesn't know at this point how it will work so we'll see.

    Nasdaq's ELO orders

Except that anytime someone posts one of these orders the HFT will queue up a penny ahead knowing that you are unlikely to cancel anytime soon. I'm excited to try it either way, but fearful the HFT will front run.

How would you have Day Traded this stock? Youtube live Trader make's trading soo easy!

I trade this style all the time, and I would say he got lucky here. He didn't talk about stops, just kept adding. If he's trying to teach this method there's got to be some rules applied. He could have got steamrolled. Also...point-and-click trading??? Get some hotkeys set up properly and...

Lightspeed Trading - LSPT Route: Effects on Slippage/Liquidity?

I tried it for a while and found slippage to be pretty bad. IEX smart router is WAY better, but more expensive. If you are trading <500 shares then LS route would probably be fine, but any more than that go with IEX.

He has pretty much stayed out of the market since then.

Where and how are the top traders doing (EricP,RM,MBA,lescor,Dustin,Szeven,Shreddog, etc?

A few of us are still around and chat most days. We can still grind out livings, some more than others. For myself, the average day is pretty dull...but when things pick up like Jan, money can still fall from the sky. Volatility comes and goes quickly these days so you have to take advantage...

    Is day trading worth it?

So earlier you said consistently profitable traders can't exist, but now you are changing that to trading "savants" can exist? Are you just a ET troll?

    Is day trading worth it?

Lescor is self taught, he relies on prop solely for the leverage. Same for me, although I went retail this year. We, along with a handful of trader friends all describe what you say is impossible. Everyone averages six/seven figures for many years...you just aren't in the same circles.

    Settings question for Lightspeed users

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the feature that keeps LS on top of all other programs? Drives me nuts, and tech support didn't have an answer. Thanks

Article on using hidden orders to defend against predatory HFT

I like them for the thicker stuff (1-2c), but you can use them on anything. The risk in the bigger spread stocks are manipulative games that change the nbbo to give you the worst price.

Article on using hidden orders to defend against predatory HFT

I've been using hidden nasdaq midpoint pegs to add liquidity in most cases. The goal is to avoid HFT with the ability of price improvement. The price improvement makes up for no rebate ($0 fee/rebate). Sometimes you miss fills, but the trade off is worth it imo. I use PDQ for taking...

How do HFTs screw small hidden limit orders posted inside the spread?

    1. What is the rule? Is this for hidden orders from any exchange? 2. How does an ALO achieve this?

Emotions - How do you deal with it?

The more successful you become, the less emotional you will feel. When trading is tough, then even small losses can feel overwhelming. When trading is going well then even large losers are easily forgotten. If you are a newer trader who has never experienced sustained success, then...

IEX is worse than the HFT scenario discussed in Flash Boys

You are paying for the better fill, and the ability to avoid hft. This is worth more than the "skim". They aren't a non-profit after all. PDQ is their closest competitor and they have a similar fee structure, it's nothing new.

HFT, and is backtesting helpful or harmful?

Yes, but they typically begin as traders. That's where the ideas to test come from. Just imo...

HFT, and is backtesting helpful or harmful?

I suppose I would just ask you to show me someone making a living from "easy to test trading systems".
