    Esignal question

Using the new, Advanced charting, is it possible to get an Advanced chart to display ticks or is a 1 minute chart the best it can do? TIA! Jim

Monitor size: 2 big or 4 little?

I'll second the kudos about the Envision flat panels...I have two of them under the glass of my trading desk and they're working great *but* no better than the 19" NEC CRT's that I've got on my desk. When I was designing my trading station, I thought about getting a couple of flat panel 17's...

Day Traders--When did you all Start

Well so am I (but not by much). That's what we really need around here, a group of old farts with another reason to be on line when we (read that "I" ) should be watching the ticker. Jim Old is having to use hot keys because I shake too much to use the mouse.

Day Traders--When did you all Start

I happy to read that I'm not the only "old timer" on the board. I got started after I moved to Hawaii and started "jonesing" for the action at the race track. A friend suggested I should check out the stock market and that's what got me started. I "progressed" into a very active "investor"...

What Happened Today at 12:00 on the NASD

I really like Realtimefutures' announcer, Ben. He's a hoot and at $125 a month, he should be. But based on cost, Xsquawk is the deal to beat at $50.00. Jim :D

What Happened Today at 12:00 on the NASD

I use Dow Jones. But even faster (by milliseconds sometimes) is the croud roar (via squawk box) at the Chicago Merc. Jim

What Happened Today at 12:00 on the NASD

Actually, there's an easier way. Check out "One Minute Trader" they send me a briefing each morning with this type of information. See Robert Tharp (rtharp) for more info about this...he occasionally writes commentary for this. BTW, it is free.

What Happened Today at 12:00 on the NASD

Good Economic news, I think...and as I write this the SPX is headed back down. I can hear all those hot keys just 'a clicken...

    What is "SMART" routing??

It is just another way of saying TMBR. (just kidding, of course) Jim

Nice rig, nitro...very, very nice! Jim

    when SMART is RETARDED

I have to jump in to mention that if you're trading the SPY's, don't use "smart" as your order *may* be sent to the AMEX, which is notorious for v e r y slow executions and confirmations. Talk about waiting and waiting and, well, you get the idea...:( Best, Jim

Large orders half hour before close

DJ News gives this informtion towards the end of trading for the NYSE stocks I trade...however, I don't know if this information is available for Naz stocks as there is no centralized place (like the NYSE) where this info is collected...different markets, and all that. Bright gave us some...

    New IB Customer Agreement

Okay, we seem to be on the same page until you write: ______________ QUOTE: I don't think it's just liability concerns - it's the fear of running into the guy who claims to average 5000 shares per trade and is "shopping around" for a retail broker and thinks IB is expensive. Please...

    New IB Customer Agreement

Well, that guy you reference may be me. But my point was that if we have to flag sales as short, then there should be a hot key for doing it, that's all. If we don't have to flag them, then I couldn't care less. However, another poster, in the same thread, wanted to know why that language...

    When to quit?

Mike, As was mentioned in an earlier post, 5k really isn't that much. If I were you, I would concentrate on getting some risk capital together...might take you a while...and while you're doing that, paper trade as often as you can. Paper trading isn't a substitute for trading using $$ but...

    Update-System Meltdown

In all probability, you'll end up doing the clean install this weekend :D as suggested by janko. I don't remember what OS you're using but if it is Win 2000, you might try doing the "repair" procedure. After you've backed up the important stuff, run the Win2k installation CD. At some point...
