I was kidding also....and thanks. On an unrelated note....Etrade just bought Tradescape though I am sure someone will start a thread on this. Wow WOw WOw.

Good point Candle I was definitely referring to the highly liquid ones. On that note I need to expand my horizons and start to trade some more of those. I am getting sick and tired of the whippy BS action of the big cap semis and bios. ARRGGHH.

Support and Resistance comes from a chart and- for the most shortest of time frames-the Tape. To me, the bids and offers beyond say 10-15 cents away from the inside represent irrelevant useless information. If a stock is bid at $50 and I see thousands of shares bid way down the Level 2 screen...

It won't be obsolete as much as different. IE the same quote principals of bids/offers, size etc. will apply but they will be displayed and accessed differently than they are now. There is a separate thread on SuperMontage that discusses much of this.

    TradeStation Securities announces new commissions

You guys are missing the boat IMO. Cyber and Realtick are about the worst (from an execution perspective) for scalping/momentum trading. THey simply cannot compare to the Scalping platforms with cents/share pricing. I still use Realtick for my charts and scanns etc., and getting a stock...

Since we are on the topic now....I have a story from the bubble days that I think is entertaining. For awhile I was the head instructor for a daytrading class in Denver. At the start of each 4-day class I would do some live trades right at the open. I would purposefully trade super fast...

Trading based purely off Nasdaq L2.

Very interesting concept. You'd have to do a done of shares though and think of all the wiggles you would have to endure-and the resultant heat from the huge positions- waiting for all those shares to fill passively.

I knew I would but the anology was good and they were classics werent they. Regarding the other game...perhaps Defender?

Valid points for sure. If I make $500 net for a days worth of trading I probably make at least that or more for the b/d. Having said that you can make $500 net "like a 15 year old scalping 3 pennies all day." I suppose it all depends on your personality and style whether one would want to...

Actually, it was the Watcher that was the original platform upon which the design and features of the others mentioned were (apparently) based. I think that Watcher had been in use as early as the early mid 90's. Yes this is certainly a piece of it. More specifically, the efficient order...

Level II quotes and the number of bids and asks for each ECN/MM

Yes DORS is basically doing the same thing as ARCA only I believe it is faster. And, I believe that if a MM is at the inside (and no ECNs/insuficient ECN volume) then DORS will route to SuperSOES. Regarding the screen issues, if you were truly only using the PD Level 2 screen alone for...

Kowboy, I never even looked at TS. THey are a retail firm and I trade prop for PD...besides they have been ticket charge based just until a few weeks ago (as you know) and I have been with PD now for almost a year. PD has tremendous keystroke hotkey functionality and I still use it just...

Level II quotes and the number of bids and asks for each ECN/MM

Mike -the way you phrase this suggests you get partial fills from multiple (different) market participants. Just curious what order route you find to be the most effective at getting you this price improvement feature.

Level II quotes and the number of bids and asks for each ECN/MM

This is nothing new here but just to clarify...the actual Nasdaq level 2 quote will only display the best bid and offer from the ECN books, along with the current bid/offer from each MM making a market in that stock. The fact that you can or cannot see additional bids/offers from an ECN's book...

Sorry missed this one. Point Direx is very very reliable-especially with its most recent version of Platinum. Since I have been on it (over three weeks now) I have not had one single crash, log off, or stuck quote. It is extremely reliable. I would say the platform was designed around a...

MarketXT ECN which became the first ECN to participate in SuperMontage. THus its MMID was changed from MKXT to LSPD. I disagree that other ECNs will become participating ones like LSPD. The possibility of dual liability and thus the taking of proprietary positions is too great. I do...

Don, Fair enough. I whole heartedly agree that teaching L2 scalp trading to the masses during the bubble was absolutely sickening and a pure recipe for losing money for most who lacked all the attributes mentioned earlier. But you did seem to imply that it was a complete farce for anyone to...

It is almost assured that he uses one of the platforms designed like the Watcher. THis would include Point DIrex, Sonic Trading, Tradescape, Hammer, Greybox, and maybe one or two others. If you would like to see a live demo of one with live executions and order entry examples, etc. check...

THere you go again spewing about the Nasdaq-which you have demonstrated time and again that you know nothing about-and putting your foot in your mouth. You may know a lot about trading and markets, but the the reality is that you would likely have neither the mental acumen nor physical...

Limit, I think you are refering to the software RediPlus, whereas he is referring to simply accessing liquidity from REDI the ECN. I agree with him that accessing liqudity via the REDI ECN is very efficient. I also agree with you that accessing liquidity via the REDI ECN...OR....any other...
