    backtesting the original turtles

So you are saying that the trades in the turtle system have negative serial correlation; that the correlation is statistically significant, and hence the trades are not independent?

    Trading Large Gaps

I use gaps in cash indexes as a secondary strategy. I trade NQs only, and I must admit it works very well. I found that combining gaps with other indicators (not off-the-shelf ones) increase probability of success: some gaps I don't trade at all, some of them are good continuation patterns...

    Do you pay your taxes?

That is the most absurd post I’ve read on the Economics board. It reminds me of chain letters: “Let’s all buy gas at Shell, but not at Mobil, this way we put greedy bustards at Mobil out of business and the oil prices will go down” At least now I know where the ridiculous ideas...

    backtesting the original turtles

I did test it as well and I do agree that the performance is disappointing. However I don't think it's due to the fact that the system's been public; I think it's because the cycle has changed. I am sure that the system of buying 20 or 55 days breakouts will work again sometime in the future...

    Outsourcing & Jobs Report

I think we all forget one important point. Don't forget that China was one of a few counties that repudiated its debt back in mid 1940s. We all forget that China is a developing third world country, that solely relies on foreign debt and capital for GDP growth. And the debt and capital...

    Int. Rates

Shoeshineboy: I strongly believe that the rise in interest rates will cause the economy to slow down, if not to come to a complete halt. 1. The rise in interest rates leads to slowdown in investments (not the stock market, but investments from economic perspective), which leads to slower...
