    It depends on the interest rate differential between the 2 currencies. They will either charge you a debit or give you a credit. For example if you buy the Yen - "carry trade" - you will get paid interest.

    You wont get a borrow on it and most retail shops wont let you short anything under 5 bucks. And if they did you would have to post $5 margin per share to short it.

    Acceptable Slippage - Spot FX

    yeah, retail. i just changed my settings to send limit orders to the current bid/offer. just put in a few test trades and hopefully this should fix the issue.
