    help with my butterfly

Yeah -- that's correct. Because if you try to carry the front month all the way to expiration, you run into the risk that those unrealized profits that were already available to be taken -- as I did with a 30%+ gain in 2 weeks -- could get away from you if the underlying price runs away from...

Searching for TOP mentoring program in options

Allow me to chime in here, coach. TOS papermoney often does fills at the mid price, which is kind of unrealistic for papertrading. Using an underlying like SPX with a wide bid/ask spread just amplifies this problem. I overcome it (somewhat) by manually backing it off the mid price towards...

Searching for TOP mentoring program in options

Keep reading, keep playing with TOS, ask a lot of questions. That's how I've been learning ... Picking strikes depends on what kind of position you're putting on and how much risk you are willing to assume. That's the most open-ended sounding description but you'll find it applies.

    help with my butterfly

You really should sign up for a brokerage account with thinkorswim. You can papertrade, live trade, and analyze anything you could possibly think of regarding options. On a calendar or time spread, the sold front month option is sold by you at less than the value of the back month option...

    Shorting EBAY -- big winner

Their core business is going completely down the drain -- auctioning off specialty items and rare/unusual collectibles in favor of trying to be the new AMZN. New management doesn't have what it takes to be heavy hitters in the retail market. EBAY has a severe identity crisis -- buyers who...

    The Monkey Calendar

Not to mention that with IBM we just saw a double top at 130 and it looks like resistance might be forming there though it's still a little early to tell. RSI was over 70 during the day Friday and now has only dropped back to 67 at the close after the underlying dropped $0.50 off the day's...

Realistic fills off the mid on SPX options?

Hello --- I'm papertrading options with a TOS account. Exited a position I had on SPX today at .05 off the mid. I know papertrading doesn't give completely realistic fills vis a vis mid and b/a spread, particularly if the b/a spread is wide. I'm going to adjust this trade in my trade...
