if u are just trying to capture spot value, you can trade the spot futures contract which will be in line with loco London cash gold -minus the spreads for storage costs........between the location.

well, the spot mkt unofficially closes when the futures mtk closes, so i would not trade spot when futures are closed. Cash dealers use futures a lot to hedge their transactions. the arb between cash and futures are tightly controlled because of this..... but u can trade spot gold...
