What lags and what does not?

in all seriousness, i would participate if there was an ergodic thread (kind of like how everyone in the SPM thread now worships the MACD) *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* proflogic

What lags and what does not?

I thought you used the ergodic for all your trading decisions! I'm surprised to hear you say it sucks  edit - misread your post

What lags and what does not?

Well for those of you who don't have me on ignore, I never said 10 bar old data wasn't old. It is. I said a current 10 period MA is not old; it's the exact current value of 10 periods averaged data.

What lags and what does not?

Oh I forgot: jack hershey will come in and post some long ass reply full of 50 cent words, but it will all be hugely ambiguous and not mean anything. There will be a chart or image attached but it also won't mean anything. Then that other guy (sorry, I forgot your name) will come in and...

What lags and what does not?

people will say all indicators lag because they are based on historical data. that's technically incorrect, however, as a 10 period MA is not lagging unless you offset it. A 10 period MA is showing you in real time exactly what a 10 period MA is at that very point in time. Live data. Not...

    do they make mini-futures?

I like futures (for tax reasons and no PDT rule and no wash sale rule) but i'd feel more comfortable trading something smaller. Too easy to lose hundreds on a move against you. Are there any brokers that offer like 1/2 size eminis so each tick on the YM is $2.50? That'd be awesome.

    Forex tax question

I'm curious. I've heard FX taxes are a gray area that no one really understands. I read on website that said you just list one line with your total profit/losses, just like in futures, and another that says you have to list every trade AND you can have to pay taxes EVEN IF YOU LOSE MONEY...

Strategy backtests well for ES but not for other index futures

1 tick on the ES is not the same as 1 tick on the YM. SO you can't say like "Exit after 5 ticks" because it will be different on each index. You'd have to somehow convert them into a similar scale, like maybe 20 YM ticks = 2 ES points, or something. I just made that up but compare moves...

    Am i understanding options correctly?

Thanks a lot for that reply! Do you know of an paper trading options simulators? Or do I need to just do it all in Excel (and just assume I'm buying the ask and selling the bid)?

    Am i understanding options correctly?

^ thanks for the point about bid/ask vs. last. So say you have an option that is profitable. Can you use trailing stops and such on options the same way you would on stocks so that if it starts to go back down, your option position is closed out for profit? Next question: How...

    Am i understanding options correctly?

Last question: if you don't sell before expiration, does it automatically get exercised (if it didn't expire worthless)?
