    Blow up

Well it looks like this boy is going to throw in the towel. I have made a number of mistakes in the past 6 months and have gone through my start-up capital. I have been in this business for over 10 years and have seen its ups and downs. Probably have to get a real job now. Wondering if...

    Case Studies in Options Trading

scalping gamma is the readjustment of delta. One does this by buing and selling shares to offset the risk in decay of options. As long as you are covering decay, then long gamma is the way. Try to find really cheap vol first, then chart the stock. If it looks range bound, then watch how it...

    Dividend Arbitrage

Most option holders will exercise in front of the dividend unless the stock is in free fall. A better play traditionally is to buy or sell deep in the money call spreads for size and hope the other side does not exercise. Careful open interest studies will tell you which strikes.

    adjustment for a calender spread

Buying April and Selling March is long vega, no matter how u slice it. If you really wanted to sell vol, something like a apr/jan is the better play imho.

    QQQ Leaps Put Spread

It feels like MCD has already been beaten down to these levels. I would by the SBUX part now and let MCD drift higher to put on a hedge. You might want to sell a MCD straddle against your SBUX calls. This would be my strategy.:)

    QQQ Leaps Put Spread

Trajan, I agree that it is probably an interest play. Back in the early 1990's when I traded the XMI, we used to trade deep in the moneys and boxes for financing purposes. However, with interest rates at an all time low, I'm sure there are other ways to borrow money. The fact that it is...

    QQQ Leaps Put Spread

    QQQ Leaps Put Spread

Any one out there get a handle on the qqq jan 05 45/55 put spread. Rumor it is an overseas customer. I guess he is getting long dollars. No other reason I see for this trade unless he is painting the tape to get a high put call ratio.

The put up just shut up?

One thing that no one ever mentions in regards to the PPT is that maybe these are short covering buys? With the VIX screaming in the 40's, the only way to cover your option premium is to trade a boat load of futures. I guarantee you that option houses such as THill, Hull, and Susq are long...

    delta-neutral trading

Trading options on and off the floor for over 12 years, I have come to the conclusion that delta neutral just means your risks are at a different stock price. Usually, when stuck in long premium, we would have to play deltas to pay decay. I have found that being short the front atm and long...

    IV Plays

anyway you play it, selling options is the only way to play vol. Unfortunately, you need to put up the margin. Use ratio call spreads if the flies are too expensive. I like to leg into the condor first by selling the put spread then the call spread. Using a bullish bias to capture some vig.
