    WE are the 95%!

Words spoken short moments before a margin call. :D :D

    WE are the 95%!

Last February and March I sat in a room full of highly educated people. Not one of us could figure out how to trade profitably. My education distracted me. I was too busy trying to use my educated smarts to beat the system before I even understood the system and more importantly understood...

    WE are the 95%!

I am sorry EMG, but your comments about education demonstrate an Extremely Moronic Generalization. Will you forgive my acronymic sentence? :p :p

Rule of thumb for position sizing

I think a reread of the OP is required.

Using a hedge instead of a stop

Please, read my previous post. All it is in the end is a different way of exiting one trade and entering another. There is no net loss or gain. At best there is a reduction in slippage and in my case an improved flow in my trading. However, apparently, another poster pointed out that...

The embarassment probably did you good. Bet you didn't make that mistake again.

how to decide on trading method, time frame and instrument

lol. I did that once by mistake. Accidentally, hit the stop option on my market entry with a stop price less than the market price. It took me several minutes to figure out why FXCM said the entry was excepted but it wasn't showing up anywhere in either my open positions or orders. Funny...

    Bright Trade vs Orbixa

I don't work well in the prop environment anyhow. I constantly felt pressured to make trades, any trades, and many trades. The result, more often than not, were significant losses. I am much more comfortable now trading with my own money.

    Bright Trade vs Orbixa

Sorry, I should be more clear. (monthly profit - fees ) * 30%.

    WE are the 95%!

No this is a job for HFT. Basically, they are looking for a Mathmatician/Computer Scientist who wants to focus on the stock markets. HFT is only one way to profit in the stock markets.

    Bright Trade vs Orbixa

I was with Orbixa last Februrary. Basically, you are working for a private company that uses Orbixa's technology. I worked for GrayCal in Ottawa who use Orbixa's technology. Nothing against the guys running this place. It just wasn't right for me. Yes, this is an offshoot/rename of...

    WE are the 95%!

Emg, If you are so against one's ability to succeed as a trader, why are you here? It seems absolutely absurd to me to waste time on a trading forum telling everybody how impossible it is. You're a failure as a trader, so go away and get yourself a McJob.

Using a hedge instead of a stop

I have been playing with for a while now. I actually like this approach much better than the traditional stop. There is a flow to it, and, as one person said in an earlier post, there is less slippage. For me, closing a position requires less effort than opening a position. That's...

Using a hedge instead of a stop

Perfect negative correlation would produce a zero net result which is why going long and short on the same instrument is pointless except in certain restricted cicumstances. No, you don't need to find uncorrelated instruments. You can actually use correlated instruments going long on one...

Using a hedge instead of a stop

oh the irony!! While I was playing with my hedging I closed a very strong position that had me shorting the usdollar cfd and long on xau/usd. Boy am I every kicking myself right now!!

So is this how a free market works?

Oh you mean like most americans/canadians who loaded up on a pile of debt they couldn't afford just so that could have that flashy new car, house, tv just like their similarly deluded buddy next door?

I'm a little afraid to open documents with that extension. Are there any macros on it?

Using a hedge instead of a stop

Also, what some of you so called experts who are against hedging don't seem to get is that there are actually three places where you can be wrong: entry, stop and limit. The hedge actually is an acknowledgement and a predetermined plan for all three: condition for simultaneous exit of...

Using a hedge instead of a stop

Now it is my turn to say, "what is the difference?" A hedge instead of a stop/limit is nothing but floating position with a locked in loss/profit equal to your stop/limit. The difference is when you release that lock. Ideally, you want to unlock it when it may be to your advantage...

Using a hedge instead of a stop

I think that is where I am seeing the greatest use for hedging with the same instrument. It locks in the loss but offers the chance to reenter the same position. Yes, you can just take your loss and reenter with a new trade. However, now I say: what is the difference? In either case you're...
