    Benchmarking trading systems

I think the standard benchmark is the S&P... depending on what you trade you would benchmark against how that asset class performed in a simple buy-hold scheme... if you cant beat buy-hold, then your system clearly underperforms...

Help to build 6-8 Monitor trading PC.

bud, unless you are doing modeling (graphic design, cad, architecture, texture mapping, animation, etc.) none of that matters to you... your main concern should be how many monitors you want, what connectors on those monitors.. and then based on that pick a video card.. if you want to get...

LMAO... good thing you have a sense of humor... :) ... but dont forget though... this is the hardware forum, and we are merely discussing what tech can help us trade better... not the size of our P&L... :)

sadly, I worked on those... I hated them... I prefered their replacement... 15K/25K... I had a farm of those supporting transactional and warehouse systems... eventually replaced them with M5K and M8K... I havent touched big iron in ages... I do miss being able to DR SB/PSB's in an out adding...

not always... that is the same argument Scataphagos had about mobo with 2 x16 slots without understanding the technology behind how that takes place... I can tell you this.. from all my years of experience there is such a thing as crappy quality that is dirt cheap, but there is also crappy...

careful, you run the risk of damaging it unless you have it on a carrier and just transfer those around... IMO, I would recommend you look at acronis with their plus pack and just take BMR images of that, save to external and then you can restore at any time... you can do this daily.. the images...

it isn't, I don't think the cost is the issue as much as to what it will be used for... I can easily spend $800-$1000 for a super great trading system... or anywhere from $3K-$5K for an amazing trading system... they will both do the same job if the requirement is day trading, but I would have...

    Trader P/L 2013

I worked from home today, so I decided to day trade again... the first spread trade made $$$... I decided to enter again around 11AM EST... by 11:15AM I knew I was wrong when US found support... but I decided to give the trade "time to develop"... I am an idiot, that never works.. I was on the...

listen, the UNIX world is "my world" ... I've been around Solaris since the days it was BSD on SunOS 4.1.x... and Linux, since the days of BBS's mostly, when I had to compile my own distribution(Slackware based) to run on a 386... and if we are going to quote gear.. I think I have easily...

Help to build 6-8 Monitor trading PC.

any card supporting more than one output to DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D/I is more than suitable for trading... the question you should be asking yourself is what type of connectors do your monitors have? start with that first... that is what really matters to you... as to not liking NVIDIA...

no, I mean stripped ;).... what... you wouldnt want to see a volume stripper?! :)... I type fast and at times dont double check.. yes, I meant striped... :) btw, I trade small by choice, I prefer to manage my risk than to be stupid enough to trade the 50-100 contracts just because my account...

Need HELP building dual E5-2687w for trading

not picking on you... but... R0? the way to go? a stripped volume? really? sorry, but that thought is really flawed... how about this... take two disks... 240GB SSD's each... striped for 580GB... crash one... and go ahead and try to recover without having to restore from a backup... better yet...

as I mentioned before, you can not compare clock speeds when it comes to completely different architectures... but yes, the i7 will be lower cost if you dont need any of the expandability features of the E5 class...
