Nasdaq topped on Apr 7th, 2003

My system is still telling me that this market has topped, but I look like an idiot today, that's for sure. Most of my shorts were initiated in the Nasdaq 1425-1430 range, so I'm taking a bath, but I'm patiently scaling into more shorts .... If the nasdaq breaks 1500, I'll call it quits and stop...

Nasdaq topped on Apr 7th, 2003

Some of you will recall that I posted a message on this forum on October 8th, 2002, saying the market had bottomed and a new bull market had started: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9649 For the record, it's my opinion that the Nasdaq topped out at 1430 on Monday, and...

Echotrade: is my capital 'at risk?'

Would my initial capital contribution be 'at risk' if several or many traders at Echotrade got blown-out? That is to say, if Echotrade goes bankrupt, am I going to lose my capital contribution even though I had nothing to do with the losing trades? Also, can anyone here comment on whether...

Withdrawing $ from Echotrade: How does it work?

I realize my initial capital contribution would be in place for one year and that's fine.....but besides that, there are no limits right? There is no pressure to keep my profits in my account right? (I regularly withdrawal ALL my profits from my account).

Withdrawing $ from Echotrade: How does it work?

I currently trade with IB and I make monthly withdrawals --- it takes a couple clicks and two days to get to my bank account --- is it this easy at Echo? Do they limit how much you can take out or the frequency of withdrawals etc? Thanks in advance!

    Ib Sucks

I will verify that IB's customer service is arrogant, rude, and worthless. What's more, you usually have to wait forever to get a hold of everyone...... Luckily, though, I have only run into TWO problems in the last 3 years with IB, so, I never use the customer service...... I would say...

More than 97 stock sales? Can I e-file this year?

And they don't have a clue --- four people were working on an answer for me, and none of them were able to find out --- had no idea how many short-term sales were allowed nor how many schedule D-1's allowed......

More than 97 stock sales? Can I e-file this year?

In past years, traders with more than 97 trades haven't been allowed to e-file? Has this changed? I just got off the phone with TurboTax and they said "Yes." I am having a hard time finder another source to confirm this (and turbotax won't let me try and e-file before Jan 15th).....so, anyone...

Shorting a $10 stock with IB; I need everyone's help...

At the unmentionable firms (datek, etrash etc) they don't have a $5 per share requirement for shorts --- it's just a 30% maintenence the same as when you go long........I'm just trying to confirm that I was understanding this correctly...... I mean, at IB you'll be liquidating immediately...

Shorting a $10 stock with IB; I need everyone's help...

Everywhere else there's a 30% rule but IB has this weird "you must have $5 for every share you short" rule...... For example: $10,000 account Trader Shorts 2000 shares at $10 At IB: the account will be liquidated begining at $10.01 ... At firms with 30% margin maintenence, the stock...

Shorting a $10 stock with IB; I need everyone's help...

In that previous example, I didn't even borrow any of IB's money to short shares initially.....but IB says I have to have $5 of equity for every share of stock at all times? Is this really the rule? If so, how can you guy bother trading with IB at all?

Shorting a $10 stock with IB; I need everyone's help...

    If I have $10,000 and I short a stock is at $5 , 2000 shares , and the stock goes to $5.01 then I'm liquidated? If the stock moves to $5.01 and I'm short 2000 Cash in account = $9999 Maintenence = $10,000 ($5X2000)

Shorting a $10 stock with IB; I need everyone's help...

Let's say I short a $5 stock --- 2000 shares --- I have $10,000 in cash in my account to begin with --- IB's maintenece requirement is 5X2000 = $10,000, so, I would immediately be liquidated.............this must be wrong............. How am I to understand IB's requirement that I have $5 in...

Shorting a $10 stock with IB; I need everyone's help...

My question is about shorting a $10 stock with IB. I have $10,000 in my account......IB's webpage says my maintenence requirement will be $5 for every share I short (because this stock is between $5-$17)....if I short 2000 shares at $10, the maintenence in my account would be $10,000...

    The Nasdaq bottoms today

Just want to get this down for the record. Today is the begining of a new bull market. If you're not 100% long stocks by the close than you've missed the bottom. ----------------------------------------------------- October 8th 2002 4:33 AM ET

    QQQs a pattern day trade?

Do the QQQs count as a pattern day trade (I have less than 25K) .. just wondering if ETFs count as daytrades like stocks do with IB. Thanks.

I just got this email from IB
