Borrowing in Yen for US 30-Year Bonds

IB rate at the first tier is actually terrible, when compared to the implied rate you get from options, futures etc. It is only at the third tier the rate is actually competitive. Of cause when you compare to other brokers the margin rate is attractive, but I would bet hardly anyone who know a...

    Compensation from IB

What you paid IB is commissions - the service to connect you to the exchange, not insurance premium that guarantee the exchange is working properly. The exchange not working is your issue.

Anyone using saxo to trade futures in the UK?

You get Nikkei with 7pts spread? I suppose that is without any daily rollover charge? Can I know which shop please? edit: If you are referring to IG the 7 pt spread is for DFB which they charge you an arm and a leg for the daily finance fee. To avoid the finance charge you have to trade the...

Anyone using saxo to trade futures in the UK?

If you are betting long term the only viable option is to find a shop that only charge the spread every quarter or so, without any finance cost. Even then for most instruments the spread is very expensive. For example IG Nikkei225 have a 20 point spread vs 5 or 1-2 for futures. Otherwise most...

Interactive Brokers Mistake = $22MM Loss

Not really. I have read on all the disclaimers and there is no warrantee that the information is always correct. In fact we know that some of them are ought to be wrong. Wrong ticks, wrong fundamentals. I had personally pointed out that the tick sizing of one of the future spread is wrong.

    Relocation from IBHK to IBUK

Yes the destination account is a portfolio margin account. Some of my theories why the transfer failed: 1. The system is too stupid and apply reg-T margin when validating the transfer of >$100k, since there is nothing at the destination account before the transfer. 2. The SPX box that I hold...

    Relocation from IBHK to IBUK

Hi Def, thanks for answering. My UK account is already set to "risk based" and the proposed transfer is > 100k, (it is empty right now) and all my stocks have capitalization above this level. I guess I need to wait for the ticket reply from the margin department.

    Relocation from IBHK to IBUK

I think it depends on the tax residency. The reason for migrating the account, part of it is "why not" and part of it I think IBUK offer more protection of my money.

    Relocation from IBHK to IBUK

I recently relocated from HK to UK and started the process of IB account migration, foolishly thinking the margining would be the same for a risk based margin account. However support said IBUK are subject to FINRA rules (is that not a US rule?) hence making most of my Japan equities positions...

Democrats move to finalize new ‘billionaire’ tax proposal, targeting 700 wealthiest Americans

So instead of taxing consumption with VAT/luxury tax or similar which is a more fair tax you now tax people for owning productive assets...... Socialists simply want to nationalize everything, instead of all in one go they now do it slowly.

Safest way to make 1% per month

Is it a requirement to have the 1%/month cash flow or average return? If cash flow is needed short enough OTM index put so that you have your 1% (until it doesn't work) If cash flow is not needed you can just go long equity and leverage/deleverage as necessary

Cheaper financing than IB's margin rates?

This is not the case for IBHK with their risk based margin. You can sell the box whenever you like for whatever purpose (including withdrawing) as long as margin requirement is met.

    Last Hope... Faithless Electors

    Last Hope... Faithless Electors

Looking with a perspective of an outsider, the US election is quite hilarious. 1. It is obvious that many procedural loopholes remain open for abuses when they should have long been fixed e.g. lol dead voters vote by mail. Look at Taiwan where the vote are cast one by one using physical paper...

ADVICE REQUEST: Still holding my $TSLA 500CALL exp 9/25

This is no different with the case that you have $20 and ask what position to enter, to try to earn $20 more. The reality is, if you want to try to get to $40 you have to risk losing your remaining $20. Whether or not to get out is up to your preferences.
