How fast I can place orders with IB

Placing your order and getting executed is always asynchronous (regardless of the broker) I don't understand the question in your post, but you can place orders as fast as your software allows. (e.g. i can log into the IB demo account and place an order every 100 milliseconds) That doesn't...

Very high premium on ITM iron condor

Check Dividends on XYZ. If there are no dividends, you'd end up with a risk free trade. Not likely, so chances are when you try to place the trade you don't get a fill for the 1.05 premium. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Here's the setup: The underlying XYZ is trading @50.00 There're options...

    Guys/Gals running boxes

Sorry, ignore the tick comment in my response. The limit (and that depends on account size) for me is quotes for 100 stocks, so I can price out a basket of 100 stocks (bid/ask/last) IB also has a feature called BasketTrader which is useful as well, so a simple basket trade (depending on...

    Guys/Gals running boxes

See below I don't have a day trading edge, all my trades are longer term (from a couple days to a calendar quarter). Martin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Who do you use as a data service provider >> IB (Interactive Brokers) and Yahoo Finance Who do you execute through >>...

Issues with TurboTax & IB (potentially because of rolled calendars)

Here's my turbo tax rant/recap http://mwtrader.blogspot.com/2010/04/traders-and-turbo-tax-rant.html I'm able to file my taxes but bottom line is I would not recommend Turbo Tax and IB to anyone. It's a bad and "incomplete" offering for traders.

    Tax filing with IB

thx, sorry if I wasn't very specific but that's what I did. The txf file is what generated the entries with the negative cost basis in the first place. I've posted on another thread and another guy also ran into this issue, I'm not sure why there isn't more "information" out there. :( oh well

    Tax filing with IB

Is anyone using Turbo Tax and IB? All my imported wash sales from IB turbo tax complains about (They all have a negative cost basis and a 0 in the gains column. All the ones from ThinkOrSwim are fine. Are you guys fixing these entries manually?

Issues with TurboTax & IB (potentially because of rolled calendars)

So how did you fix them? Just move the negative cost basis to 0 and put the same value (*-1) into the gains column? So when it originally said gains 0 cost basis -300 did you move it to gains 300 cost basis 0 Did that happen on stock trades for you or on option trades? I figured this is...

Issues with TurboTax & IB (potentially because of rolled calendars)

This may be specific to calendar spreads but bottom line is I have about 1600 IB trades and when I import them into turbo tax many of them have a negative Cost basis and a blank net proceeds column in turbotax. (Import file originates from the IB Account Tax section) When I delete the trades...

Is there a fixed date in a month when options tend to be cheaper?

If you look at SPY options (or SPX for that matter) on the day of expiration you'll see that volatility is statistically lower than the following Monday. (VIX increases after expiration) So on average you'll have a long option price increase due to volatility when you hold the weekend after...

    Day Trading Options

leverage = margin If you've 30k in your account you can buy 120k (not that you should) worth of stock and you'll just have to deal with a one or two cent bid/ask spread. If you're wrong and need to get out you're in a much better position that way. Now that assumes you really day trade...

    Day Trading Options

Enjoy it while it lasts. I wouldn't daytrade these options because of the spread. If you've a good run with your trades, just buy the stock with leverage and you'll probably pocket more money.
