    Anyone else workout in here?

The quickest way to lose weight is to stop eating. But you don't want to do that. The quickest way to lose fat -- which is what you want -- is to exercise rigorously (running for instance) for 4 hours per week and eat less. Sorry, there's no magic shortcut to fat-loss. It's hard work.

Who is your favorite CNBC chick?

I want to see the rest of her. They should send her on assignment to a beach somewhere so we can see her in a bikini

someone at IB needs thier ass kicked

You mean chatting with a customer rep from TWS? I got in a couple of weeks ago, it took about 5-10 minutes. On the other hand, the response was very slow and they ended up just telling me to open a webticket.

    Naked Option writing?...

Well if you had credit spreads or short strangles or iron condors before Oct 87, I doubt your account would have fared much better. Just about any bullish/neutral strategy would have gotten you killed.

    financial security of your broker

I'm looking to open an account at a new broker and am looking for ratings based on financial strength. I went to Weissratings.com but they don't list most brokers. How do you research a broker's financial security? Or does everyone here only care about commissions and software platform?

Advice on Trading options as a career

PM doesn't allow cross-margaining between futures and index options. It allows cross-margaining between index options, stock options, and stocks. But for the OP, let me suggest that you do this for a few more years and build up to 500k minimum before even thinking about making the career...

    What is this strategy called?

Aside from what it's called, the better question for torontoman is, why would you want to do this?

    Naked Option writing?...

The risk between spreads and naked options is comparable. If the market moves 10-15% against you in a short amount of time , you are toast either way.

back to futures options for me

I don't know the details but they said they are changing the parameters to reflect more extreme price movements. If you have fully hedged positions such as a conversion, I suspect your PM won't change. Otherwise it may balloon 5 to 15+ fold. What I don't know is if the change will decrease...

back to futures options for me

IB is making changes to portfolio margin that will make it worse than Reg-T for certain positions. For me there's no point in PM anymore because the leverage is bad, so it's back to futures options. Sigh, it was a great 3-month ride with PM...

    Portfolio Margin at ThinkorSwim

IBKR is much more than a broker though. Much of their income comes from market making and execution services. In fact TOS uses IB for trade execution.

SBUX - Just bought 100 contracts June 30 Calls at $0.50

You'll make money most of the time but sooner or later you'll get clobbered. An unexpected rise of 10% of the underlying would clean out a writer

Preparing for a Life After Daytrading

The career change has been easy for me because I actually like trading. It's like a hobby for me, not just an income source. When the trading day ends I'm sometimes bummed and wish it could continue for another hour. Im weird I know. :D As for the social stigma of a trader, that ends when I...

I got a hedge fund job

Don't worry about the compensation now. This is a stepping stone to your 2nd and 3rd jobs, where payday will come. What is your goal? If you want to become a Windows applications developer, then you need to gain experience in C++, C#, .net and Java (at least two of them), for instance...

Investing $15K to earn 3% per week

Earth to PersistentTradr, 3% weekly on a consistent basis is unrealistic and (I'm not even going out on a limb here) impossible. In 5 years your 15k would be $32.6 million if you could do that, which you obviously can't. Shoot for 4% per MONTH which still better than 98% of everyone here...

Preparing for a Life After Daytrading

This is terrible advice. Things change, it's better to earn your money now than wait for something you expect. Plus, by making your own money now you will learn valuable financial management skills that will come handy no matter happens.

I don't know about Quiznos but there's no way you can get a Subway franchise for 50k. It's in the six digits.
