Does it need to be free to are you willing to pay? Most real-time brokers offer real-time news to subscribers. You can usually turn off all the filters to see all news but you will be overwhelmed.

I would say today's best platform front-end is TradeStation. In fact, multicharts copied it pixel for pixel. TradeStation as a platform has many issues (data and broker reliability), but the look and functionality is near the top of retail platforms.

Other than the symbol currently loaded into a chart, EL cannot access other symbols or their data without the use of third-party DLLs. And even then its a hack.

IB data isn't that good. Just compare with others and you will see. and QCharts has a great frontend: if its 1999.

Real-time vs historical differences are common in all data feeds. Don't worry about it.

Do you need ES or SP data? This may or may not be of help depending on your symbol: http://pitrading.com/market ES goes back to '97. No SP. I am waiting for this months update to arrive in the mail.

I was discussing this with another ET member a few weeks ago. I am not sure what is wrong with the anfutures site. Last time I was on was back in March and everything was working fine. If you do a google search, they were active until the last few weeks.

Not many tick providers when searching. tickplusdata.com I have never used them so do your research. Tick is always going to cost more than intraday (minute+) so first make sure your application needs tick level prices.
