Didn't read the whole story -- but is anyone really shocked by any of this ??? Just because a lot of the folks at Solly and Goldman went to Ivy league schools doesn't mean that they are sooooooo much smarter than the rest of us that they can outsmart us on the direction of a particular security...

It would be very difficult (ok, impossible) for both parties to either buy or sell in the same transaction. Someone has to sell to the buyer, and someone has to buy from the seller. Just a few tips so that hopefully you can figure out how this "trading" thing works. Vega:D

I'll add this, used to work for some guys that previously were at Cooper Neff. One day they had 20 guys on the CBOE floor, then, let's just say they got screwed by the head of the CBOE group, and the following morning he had to manage ALL the floor positions cuz everyone else quit ...

Yeah, why would a company want to use stock options as a benefit to key employees, or sell puts on their stock to generate additional income (Dell cleaned up doing that in the last 90s), or buy puts on their competitors to offset a potential shortfall in their sector. But the good news is...

Hate to break it to you, but to be on the floor now you need to be at least 50 up, more like 100 up to even get consideration for being on a ticket. Haven't been on the floor in 2 years, but "those" guys you referred to probably make 50-75K, depending on what they trade and how much volume...

I used to work on the floor of the CBOE, and at one point the old NDX pit was right next to the pit that traded QCOM and TXN -- notorious for being the biggest group of a-holes on the floor. That day was probably one of the craziest thing I've ever seen, especially when locals tried to fade...
