Just landed a job on a trading desk in Houston, although I won't be trading (at least not right away) it has lots of potential to transition into that role.
monty09 you owe me $100
HappyJoe, I look forward to becoming a player
Thanks for the feedback...
I can see what you mean about once a broker always...since many of the guys here are older, but I'm young (naive) I think I'll be able to make the transition. Especially considering the anemic hiring in the US economy these days, future employers will be more...
as a follow up...ended up getting a job as a commodity (oil and nat gas) options broker. Figure it'll be a good way to start my career and eventually seg-way into trading.
Am trying to get into energy space as well. It's a tough nut to crack, seems everyone wants experience (even schedulers). Any additional advise that hasn't been covered in this thread would be appreciated.
Have an interview w/ WTS this week. I'm skeptical but also desperate to get into the field. Have internship experience at major IB and top honors in college but not a great alumni / network base. If anyone wants give me more skinny on why I should skip this place please PM me all the sorted...
Graduated in June of 09. Had internship at JPM but no offer.
Want trading to be my only career, just quit bartending.
Haven't had $ to blow up...yet
Looking for shops as we speak, who wants to hire me.
