    does SCHB = cybertrader???

Don't know the exact answer to your question. But, Schwab did buy out Cybertrader. So, I would hazard a guess that they would.

    Trend Formula

What I am trying to do is get Excel to mathematically see a chart. I can visually look at a chart and see certain patterns and trends. I would love to have a spreadsheet that tells me whether a stock will go up or down -- especially if it is an accurate spreadsheet. However, for now I am...

What are good results for daytrading

This may not be the answer that you are looking for, but I think it depends on what risk/reward you are looking for. You post does not mention how much risk you are assuming. Now, 1.5% of a 90K account equates to $1,350 per day (or $351,000 per year). Personally, I think I could live on that.

    Trend Formula

Does anyone know how to mathematically determine a security's trend? I can visually look at a chart of the Dow 30 and see that it has been trending up over the last 4 days. But, how do determine that using an Excel formula. Especially when you consider that you can have a down day and still...

    Data Feed for Excel

You might take a look at a program called InterQuote. It does not feed into Excel, but rather gives you a spreadsheet interface for the quotes that you select.

    OK, tech-types...

Tntneo is correct about TV screen resolution being poor compared to what you get on your computer monitor. However, I believe that only applies to analog sets. I don't own one, but I understand that the new digital (ie HDTV) sets have a much higher resolution. If your big screen is a digital...

    "Common Sense" tax solution

I agree with the others, you definitely need to seek out some professional advice. As someone pointed out, the IRS is going to get a copy of your 1099 reporting all of your sale transactions. They are going to want to match this data up to your Schedule D. Beyond the IRS implications of...

    Business Names?

How about MGB, Inc. or MGB, LLC or the ever popular MGB Trading? AFAIK, the only rules are that your company name cannot be deceptively similiar to another entities name. If you use your own name or initials you should be Ok.

    Taxes

Schedule D carries over on a net basis. In your above example, you will pay taxes on $30K. The $3,000 amount is the maximum net loss that you can deduct in a given year. However, the remaining loss is carried forward into the next year(s). Example: Year 1&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspNet...

    LLC Taxes

I cannot imagine that trading income would ever be subject to payroll taxes. But, money withdrawn from an LLC may be subject to those same taxes, if paid in the form of salary. Unfortunately, I am not that familiar with LLC taxation vs. sole proprietor or c-corp taxation and cannot give you a...

A question about using a Stop Order Loss

Just when I thought I knew what I was doing  a thread like this one comes along to muddy the waters for me. Maybe someone can clear things up by defining the following order types: -- Stop -- Stop Loss -- Stop Limit -- Buy Stop -- Sell Stop -- Trailing Stop FWIW, my...

Beginning Day Trader - Where do I start?

That tradingmarkets web site looks like it might be pretty interesting. Thanks for posting the link, Alex. You say you have not been trading very long. How much time did you spend reading and researching before you were able to draw up a semi-decent plan?

    A Datek's Deception??

First off, I am not a Datek customer, so I cannot comment on whether they imploy deceptive trade practices or not. However, if you feel that this firm has done something wrong, you can file a complaint with the attorney general's office in your state. If Datek really does charge $15 after...
