I assume taht everyone that posts to this site is a trader, so it boggles the mind that anyone in their riursght mind would want the market action dilted over another 16 hours. I say let's have 2 sessions: 8:30 ET until noon and then reopen at 2pm et for two more hours
I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a good "squawk box" type service that broadcasts market news as it happens? The service I currently use has deteriorated in quality.
Actually Chs245 is right. ECNs can go around and do go around the NYSE all day long for as much as they want. ARCA only routes into ITS if your order is set up to do so. (Most are by default). INET, for all Ed Nichols' BS doesn't even participate in ITS and can trade thru at will.
Specialist probably had a big seller and than called some the frequent players in that stock or any recent heavy buyers and asked them if they had an interest in buying any more yada, yada, yada. A big trade was blocked out
Does anyone else find 2003 to be some of the lamest trading in years?

--thin order flow on the specialist book
--stocks individually having little or no correlation to moves in the futures.

Dave Block was a total putz and was often in way over his head, but he was not fired from Protrader for stealing. I worked with him for 2 years and he was sacked for improperly handling an error trade by not closing it imediately.
I would not even think of dabbling in some sort of odd lot scheme. I know for a fact that the NYSE is all over a couple of firms like white on rice.
