Machine Learning Course at Stanford University

It's a good introduction to machine learning but I don't see what the course has to do with trading. Maybe to teach you to look elsewhere for automated trading? Just sayin' ... (yes, I took the course, several years ago and it's a good intro but nothing more)

    Is day trading worth it?

Are you a consistently profitable trader? Do you have any student that have been able to learn your method and gone on to become a consistently profitable trader? I have never seen any student of yours posting here on ET stating that. If I am wrong, please say so, I might have missed it. I'm...

    Question about selling a strategy

A robo-no-doji? I never understood why anyone claiming to have a working automated system would ever consider selling it. Unless it doesn't really work, of course. :p I am guessing the RND does not come close to your discretionary performance metrics.

Backtesting with vol and tick data

Wrong. You sell strategies and are not aware of the pros and cons of the major platforms out there? Sorry for responding at all. I forgot to check your posting history before making my first reply.

Backtesting with vol and tick data

Any of the major charting platforms can do that. I am assuming that you mean what you write and that you're not thinking of DOM data.

How do YOU come up with trading ideas?

I thought they all moved to Palm Beach, FL, and joined that shady PBHFA organization. :p

how can i avoid sideways price action

Your response tells me you didn't test it. The example you refer to was tested by the author over 11 months in 1997 with a total of 274 trades. Take that same system and slide the test window forward (and backward) in time to retain the 11 months and see what you get (make sure to extend the...

how can i avoid sideways price action

Don't believe everything that's in a book (or because it's in a book). Test it yourself. Oh, and yes, you can always find a period where almost any system comes out profitable for a while. Like if you need to make a point in a book. To the OP (buwa84): Always without exception do your own...

    Is day trading worth it?

You are in sales and not in trading. How does that make you an expert on trading? You demand proof of the people you criticize so I think it's only fair you come up with some, too. Edit: You're also married to annaland a.k.a. Rodney King so you shouldn't really refer to "them".

    Is day trading worth it?

Thank you ammo. I follow a few of the threads for this method and my impression is they do just about what you described now - they start with a prep using the daily or even weekly for context and then zoom down into 4 or even 1 hour and finally further into 1 minute or lower charts for trading...

ammo, what necessary parts of this very large business do you think Db have left out? Are they crucial for success? I am not trolling; I am really interested in your view on this.
