    K-1's on ETF's if I daytrade or sell short

    Thanks for replies. I called Proshares and I was told that no K-1's would be issued if I only shorted a fund. If I was long for only daytrades, I might get a K-1 as it would depend on whether my broker reported the long. Proshares only reports what the brokers give them.

    K-1's on ETF's if I daytrade or sell short

    Two questions regarding K-1's on ETF's--- 1)If a daytrader buys an ETF such as the SCO that issues a K-1, would the daytrader receive a K-1 since he/she was never holding the ETF at the close of business. 2)What about if the daytrader or any trader goes short on such an ETF, such as the USO...

    When SPY Sells off 5% in Two Days

    Greetings, I am somewhat of an option newbie. The SPY has sold off about 5% in the last two days. That is a rare occurrence and seems to happen every few years. In the past, this type of sell-off will usually get a bounce in a day or two and then might sell-off again. What are some good...

    Other peoples money

    You could open a "family and friends" account at Interactivebrokers. Keep the other person's account segregated from yours, but you can trade your account and the other account at the same time. Keep separate accounts so that the gains you make for your friend are reported as taxable income...

    phone for trading, aircard Q as well?

    I also have a Verizon USB aircard. I previously had an aircard with T-Mobile. The Verizon service is much better since they seem to have a better and wider network. I trade on a laptop and when I have to go out or am out of town, I just plug in the aircard and click "connect" and in less than...

    SSF .. why the free money?

    i believe it means that your broker will be charging you an annualized interest rate of 119% for that day on accounts that are short GM. That interest rate can change each day.

    SSF .. why the free money?

    I looked into this a couple years ago. The answer is that SSF's do NOT get the favorable 60/40 tax treatment that 1256 contracts get.

    SSF .. why the free money?

    If you go to onechicago.com, there is a list of EFP's that would seemingly give huge yields. But when I checked the cost to short these stocks with IB, they also had huge costs to short. That makes sense as there is no free lunch with so many arb players. So if you sell a stock and buy the...

    SSF .. why the free money?

    At this time, MGM stock is at 4.90/4.91 and the SSF is at 4.17/4.50 so the spread between the stock bid and the SSF offer is .40. So selling the stock and buying the SSF gives you a spread of .40? IB shows 450K shares of MGM are available for short sale. SO how can this be, that there is such...

    IB: execDetails() missing

    893.5 was the one I had trouble with. I have since downgraded to 892.9b. I had the trouble when I kept the TWS on overnight and a limit order was hit but not reported. It was reported after I rebooted. As others have mentioned it might be a problem with keeping TWS running overnight...

    IB: execDetails() missing

    IB told me, through the live chat, that there is a problem with the recent version of TWS and I should downgrade to an earlier version.

    IB: execDetails() missing

    When you say you did not receive any execDetails, does that mean that fills on open orders were not received and positiions were not updated? I had an overnight position with an open order to sell last night. The trade should have been filled, but IB did not show the fill. I resent the...
