    Spread Trading

Both will generally move in the same way, the trick is to find which will outperform the other and make sure the cost of ownership doesn't kill you.

UK trader looking to trade in CA

Only this week I got notice of my H1-B visa approval (on special skills) as my firm don't have a registered UK office, this is not the hardest thing in the world to do but you do need a specialist US lawyer and they are only issued effective Oct 1 and in limited numbers so you need to get your...

Thanks for that. I read the manifesto which, IMHO, is very much worth a read - I take it the pseudo dungeons and dragons theme is your passion!?!?!?! Good luck.

    Commodities trading

Because you're buying/selling a physical commodity - supply and demand effect the individual months as well as the overall product (for example winter months effect heat oil demand, or maybe you're bullish to 2007 future growth in china which requires galvanised steel which in turn effects the...

    LME metal futures

    No where else to turn

You are drawing support resistance lines where the market hasn't visited enough. so why have you drawn just horizontal lines? take the chart you posted and draw a diagonal line between the high on the second bar in from the left (68.60) and the chart high (third bar in from right). See...

China says it won't recognize the recent copper trades...

China says it won't recognize the recent copper trades...

the amount in question is not negligble 1. there is only about 55,000m/t of copper avaliable in LME bonded warehouses 2. contract size is 25m/t 3. O/I is about 210,000 lots

China says it won't recognize the recent copper trades...

because the shorts still exist*. The brokers who cleared these trades for SRB will now be short to market, if SRB do default then the brokers will cover the positions they inherit and sue SRB for losses. *this assumes the short position existed in the first place

    Copper

The price action over the last 2 days does not look like somebody (SRB) unwinding a big short position, it's the market getting wind of somebody (they believe) has to unwind a big short position - if the SRB goes for a "get me out" type trade then I would expect copper will be 5-10% higher. The...
