Are Any EliteTrader Users In A Prop Firm? What Are Your Returns Like?

I agree, but it's nothing special about the outliers other than they are outliers. The outliers just aren't sleep at the wheel.

Are Any EliteTrader Users In A Prop Firm? What Are Your Returns Like?

Well, to go from $80K to $200K in a year you don't need a prop firm....you don't need leverage at all. I think the media has a lot of people stuck in the matrix. People think these are amazing numbers. Develop a strategy and wear the market out. Everyday it's opportunity and it doesn't care who...

Are Any EliteTrader Users In A Prop Firm? What Are Your Returns Like?

I think a trader's returns can be whatever they make it. Their is no real ceiling on the returns if you know what you are doing. I think 200% is reasonable even in a cash account with no margin. We have just been told that 10 or 12% a year is a appropriate number for resonable risk.

when is this market going to top?

Questions like this are interesting. No one knows what the top is. Dow could go to 25,000 or whatever number it wants. Too many people try to fight the market and keep the same strategy even when the environment has changed. The market is never wrong because it gets to continue to write new...

    How to play volatility

The VXX options are very different than VIX options. Again the transfer cost of transferring the front month to second month destroys the product. There is no way to capture that with VIX options, thestructure is completely different.

    How to play volatility

Its just a completely different product (VXX versus VIX options). VXX isn't leveraged. I have no idea on what the VIX futures will do, but I can tell you what VXX is going to do. VXX and UVXY (2X leverage) are going to zero forever. Just go to yahoo finance and click on the max chart for VXX...

Thanks for explaining your strategy.Yea, I trade a lot different that you do. I'm 100% option spreads. I will say this, you can also find brokers to pass through the maker/taker rebates on certain exchanges so that cost/year would be zero or less.

I am not dodging your question. Just trying to teach you how to fish instead of giving you a fish. Like I said in my post before, you have to call these guys to pay less than advertised price. I wasn't sure of your usual volume because that makes a difference of course. Also with trading 5K...

    How to play volatility

I trade a lot of volatility products such as VXX, UVXY, VXZ. Just look at a historical graph of any of these and you can figure out what to do. The contango in the front futures destroys VXX and uvxy over time. It's important to know the range of the 1st and 2nd month future to understand if...

I'm assuming you are just using software the broker provides or do you have DMA through different software? Are you doing a lot of volume?

    tastyworks announces fee structure

My advice would be pick up the phone and call some introducing brokers. All these commission schedules are negotiable if you are really doing the volume. If your not doing high volume the commission fees shouldn't matter as much. For high volume traders it's a lot more about relationship with...

    tastyworks announces fee structure

I think anyone who is paying anywhere close to these fees for options isn't really an active trader, is very foolish, or just likes to throw money away.

Thanks Bob, I will send you an email shorty.

    Rebate trading with Options

I disagree. I'm already a profitable options trader without rebates. Rebates greatly enhances the position. Based on the exchange and a conservative multi leg strategies after commissions returns are > 5% at next tick.
