OS X Trading Platform

Hi Mac people, I've developed an in-house trading tool and am thinking of cleaning it up and releasing it to the world. Right now it's a little rusty, but I wanted to gauge interest amongst other traders to see if it's worth cleaning up. It's built entirely using Mac OS X APIs, so it's...

For those of you who know what you're doing.

I'm not particularly interested in actually doing automated trading, but I do read this section of ET and haven't seen anyone ask this question. If you were just starting out today, what would you have done differently? Are there any lessons that aspiring programmatic traders can learn that...

    OS X, XGrid, and Trading

I've used it before for data mining in the Netflix competition. IMO it's more of a hassle to set up than its worth. You're better off using Hadoop if you really want to use your cycles to perform crazy computations.

"The China Price" - The best business article I have seen in years.

You nailed it. Plus, that $1.25/hour is much more when you realize that 40 oz beers only cost about $0.32 there...(after bargaining, heh). However, I wouldn't for a second put any true trust in what Jim Rogers has to say about Chinese culture. Westerners are always focusing too much on...

What's happening tonight with the YM and ES? Has there been extremely high volume or is my feed giving me bad data? I get that there were 2,050,658 contracts traded at 6:00 PM. See the attached weekly graph...

Why do I see "Trends" in Randomly Generated Data?

Discussing this topic is NOT a waste of energy. Additionally, this is not a thread in which one side needs to be convinced by the other...if this thread were based on opinion then I'd have to agree with you, but it's not. It's based on fact. Concerning your initial point: yes, it's given that...

Over 75 years ago Wall Street Crashed; but today the New Crash is already underway...

southamerica: You're implicit assumption that "derivatives" are the new margin are totally without base. In equity markets, at least, heavily traded derivatives fall under the categories of two types of instruments: futures and options on equity. Buying on margin is still permitted but it...

Who's got the lowest futures commissions?

There was a point in time when you could get live data feeds from thinkorswim onto Excel. I don't remember how to access it...

Right now, real estate is better than stocks

I totally disagree. The entire real estate market has been in a de facto fire-sale mode for over six months. As the EUR/USD has just crossed 1.51, as a European I would feel stupid not to take advantage of this situation. Real value of American residential property has dropped...
