ahh. thanks michael, your a big help around here. like i said, i may need to adjust my mentality...being a stock day trader is way different than forex. the problem is that i keep doing well scalping/day trading...it's hard to want to stop.

i think basically hedging works in one situation when the market retraces. if it keeps loosing then your bound to lose more on one of the trades.

my ignorance. i didn't see that oanda is down to 1.5 spread on E$. that's significant...50%. i saw it at 3 spread before. i guess i'll seriously use oanda and see how it would work then. maybe even put some trade in for longer term (more than 10 minutes)...:D

crazy it is. it's high pressure, but at this point i'm seeing if scalping profitably is possible in this. over 5 days of demo trading i'm up 18% scalping on using $3k as my assumed limit (even though most demos are higher). it could be that i've got to turn into an inverstor and not scalper.

i'd like to purchase 100:1. it could be i'm learning a newbie lesson by going 100:1. i am a day trader at heart and with leverage i can scalp (day trade). i could be applying to much of a day trading mentality to forex. don't know yet.

i just don't like the 50:1...that's all. otherwise i like all the other features hands down. i really think that should be an option for the trader to decide...their own leverage. if i want 100:1, then it's my money.

yeah i noticed the same thing. not going to work for me. i've been demoing fxdd and i really like their platform. MG is also good. but still demo for each.

well fxsolutions won't work for me. they lack proper stop/limit capabilities. that narrows my choices by one at least.

looked at interbankfx, and they charge commission. for me that's a no no. all the posts i have read on many boards, oanda appears to be the traders choice w/ others having differing opinions on fxsol.

maybe i'm not explaining my thoughts well. or i don't quite get it yet myself. i try to work through some scenarios...btw, you guys are really helpful around here. example: euro$ 1.3035/38 day range up to the point 1.2991 - 1.3067 buy @ 38 market turns down sell @32 scenario 0...

MK, true it does have pyschological value, but i really think it has some true value when used at specific times. you are right, it does have to do with when you made a trade in the wrong direction and you can't always hedge that...sometimes you take the loss. but if you definitely see range...

ElectricSavant, the two pc setup isn't hard...i'm a programmer and have 5 machines in my house. 3 in my soho. java programming, how/why do you need to use that? my concern w/ 2 oanda accounts is that i will be using 2x the margin whereas when hedging is offered you don't need the extra...
