What happend, the markets are dead ?!!

Actually a great way to spend the holiday is analyzing why there is no volume and the stocks aren't trading. When you find out let us know. I have a prediction though, i bet the same thing happens July 4th too! FYI http://www.thestreet.com/stock-market-news/11771386/market-holidays-2014.html

    Need help choosing a broker

CIBC is nowhere near IB in options pricing in Canada. You might be getting $1.25 a contract with CIBC but you have a big fat ticket charge as well at CIBC and ToS that IB doesn't have. If you trade 10 contracts then you'll pay $1.25 a contract plus the $10 or $15 ticket charge. With IB you'll...

Options other than IB for option traders in Canada?

Livevol as a brokerage is not an option for Canadians. You can buy the Livevol software service, but they cannot execute orders, so Livevol Pro is out as an option north of the border. I've asked :) ToS is most certainly available to Canadians, you go through TD Waterhouse. Great software...

Equal the market with less risk? Sharpe Ratio for SPY

Sharpe on the SPY YTD is 2.77. Max DD of 5.59 % and up 27% ish. Its had a good year. If you've beat it and had less drawdown you've done very well assuming you weren't just long SPY with leverage the whole year.

Questrade’s looking for your multi-leg ideas

Nice, and extremely intelligent contribution. Why do any brokerages exist except to make a profit? You think some are charities? If a company is going to take the time to solicit feedback from existing or potential customers to help improve a product, the least you can do is contribute...

Questrade’s looking for your multi-leg ideas

First nice to see a canadian broker actually looking for customer input. I'm an active futures and index option trader in canada, and agree completely with Heiasafari. He's got it 100%. You want to tempt us away from IB? Offer a ToS like platform with IB like commissions. Get rid of ticket...

Selling naked puts on dividend paying stocks?

Your only obligation as a short put seller is to buy the stock if it gets put to you. Being short calls obligates you to provide 100 shares of the underlying if called away. In neither case do you have any dividend obligations being short calls or puts.

Does Interactive brokers guarantee execution of option strategy?

If you place an order for a 4 legged trade such as a condor it either fills as a condor or not at all. You aren't going to get filled on only 2 legs of the 4.

Whats the point of different expirations for single underlying futures contract?

Not as far as i know. Options on CL track the underlying CL futures contract. Since CL has a new futures contract every month, the options each have their own underlying futures contract as well. No such thing of a multiple CL options expiries tracking the same futures month. Since the...

Need to be a great stock trader before you trade options ?

Nope you can be a terrible stock trader and still be a good options trader. Two totally different animals. That being said having decent stock analysis skills helps in option trading.

Does anyone have a solution for avoiding or decreasing modification fees with IB?

I meant option spreads..such as a put or call spread, butterfly, condor etc. Anything other than just long or short one strike. Multiple strike trades entered as one order don't get charged modification fees.
