Single instrument traders, how do you hedge?

That's interesting so you go long and short with stops on each when you know there will be a big move. Sounds like a plan, but wouldn't Market Makers make sure to swing a little in both directions to knock out both stops? You could also go short with a small percentage of your capital in...

Quit voting for Republican's (Bush & Cheney are invested in HAL). Oil is only 5 times what it was before Bush was in office....hmmm.

    Tax help for new trader.

I would like to hear from someone who has gone through this taxing process as a trader because the source is confusing as hell. Could someone with experience in doing taxes after being a trader please answer this for me? Thanks.

    Tax help for new trader.

Gains - Losses - Commission ------------------- Net Gains <------ Is this what you have to pay taxes on? This is the way I thought it was, but I don't know. I'd appreciate any reply.

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

It seems that the last two posts were by individuals long in oil. Just a speculative guess, but who's really supporting the oil prices. I agree that there is a bubble in oil prices like Dell said, and that a lot of institutions are long commodities.

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

Oops. I forgot to post the site. http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/309/5738/1177?ijkey=M7gAWX0EMGF8U&keytype=ref&siteid=sci Good point above about the plutonium isotopes, and the recycling of our waste. I knew it was stupid that we weren't recycling, but you (with the above article)...

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

I don't understand why we're not actively constructing nuclear plants. This is a site that shows how Asia's nuclear growth is growing. [If we don't start making changes in how things are run here in the US, we'll start to fall behind the Asian countries in quality of living by 2050]<---A...

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

What I meant by giving this as a disadvantage, is that it's a disadvantage to going nuclear because the oil companies have so much money and they want to make so much more that they can manipulate the government into not promoting viable alternatives to oil.

    Globalization

I feel stupid now, but I appreciate the posts. My dad was the one who put globalization in my head. I was trying to figure out what conspiracy could be so important to do what was done on 9-11 because it was obvious what was told to us on the news stations was hogwash. This Zionist theory makes...

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

Good points: We do need a better way to get rid of nuclear waste. We also need to recycle that waste. If it's more expensive, why is France almost totally nuclear and why are the asian countries building nuclear reactors. The puplic utilites prefer coal because it's more accepted or...

    Globalization

Quit spending all our tax dollars on causing problems overseas and build up our infrastructure; e.g., work on our electric grid--add nuclear reactors, work on electric railways, give grants for research in batteries for electric cars--ethanol is a diversion because we can't grow enough crops to...

    Globalization

I'm a Caucasian male born & raised in the US. I am a Dr. educated at two Universities in the US. I was taught to use critical thinking in my education; i.e., not to just memorize what is put in front of me.
