Those are probably the guys selling him some protection in order he doesn't need so much vaseline at night.
I can't feel sorry for a guy like this. He could have had an extremely profitable legit business.
But the profits or losses are reflected daily on account (and I would get a margin call if I could not meet margin) so what does happen in the last day differently from the day to day calculation ?
Edit: I realized that this is just for Dutch customers (they had already done this customers from Canada, Singapura and Japan).
They say it's because of Dutch regulators but I think this will hit them hard.

If you don't want to complicate things, calculate it like you were a fund.
You start with 100K and "issue" 100.000 "shares". Each one is $1
You made 15K so the "fund" value is 115K. Each "share" is now $1.15
