    Stock Transaction Tax-Prep Software

My annual thread bump of this for folks in need of a tradematching service cheaper than a lot of the standalone software products on the market. I somehow managed to do the complete opposite of procrastination and downloaded all of my 2010 trades from IB already. Sent them over to...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

Going to wait until eSignal 11 to trial it (so I don't experience as many of the drawbacks some of the other posters mentioned), they expect it to be out in a few months I believe. No point in running a trial until then. So I'll stick with Tradestation (which I really don't have any complaints...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

Well, I'm just about done... I looked at these charting platforms: Amibroker, Quotetracker, Investor R/T, Sierrachart, Multicharts, Ninjatrader, Neoticker, Ensign Used both IQ Feed (w/ LII) and IB's feed (w/ LII) (not many other feeds exist for the retail trader I've learned). Most of...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

2 questions: 1. Does anyone know of a standalone market-depth & Time/sales ONLY app (no charting)? 2. Is Tradestation (and I'm guessing eSignal) the only platforms that show you a historical Time & Sales (with a vertical scrollbar)? All these other platforms basically just show you from the...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

Awesome rec, just went to Ninja 7 (b18) and it's working so I can actually test it out now. Thanks!

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

Quick update so far (comments welcome as usual): -Got an IQFeed trial going and also added Totalview to my IB Datafeed for a month. I'm surprised that IQ Feed doesn't support Totalview, only the less revealing Openview, that could be an IQ Feed dealbreaker for me. -I eliminated Amibroker...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

Good info again. FYI- I use IB's TWS with a little pt-click and a lot of hotkeys, it's fast enough for my purposes to do it that way. I would be very hesitant to switch order execution to a diff. platform given my effectiveness (& profitability) with IB TWS, I don't feel I ever miss trades...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

Every bit helps, thanks, i'm still hunting around, will post back with my final decision, going to test out a few platforms over the next few weeks along with checking into data feeds. But very quickly, TS is only $100 if you are a brokerage client of theirs. I am an IB client, not TS, so I...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

I'm better off sticking with IB because the amount I save in commissions by using IB overcomes any savings for using tradestation for free (additionally, execution, hotkeys, etc. in IB is huge for me). I just checked esignal and it looks like it's $170 for a similar package to what I'm using...

After 5 yrs, may switch off Tradestation, cheaper alternative?

Here are the things I've liked about Tradestation and why I've used it for years: -Color-coded linking b/w Level II, charts, time & sale -Customizable quote lines -Multiple tabs so I can have indices on 1 tab, stocks I'm trading on another, etc. -Speed: When it's up, it is quick, but once a...

    Stock Transaction Tax-Prep Software

Just finished processing 30,000 matching transactions via Wayne @ tradematcher.com (trying to get a headstart on filing this year again). His prices went up this year, which is understandable given that I had no clue how he could afford to spend all that time processing these things for folks...

    Stock Transaction Tax-Prep Software

Just wanted to bump this thread again because just like last year, I decided to use Tradematcher again this year. Again it was $34.95 for the service, and again the guy successfully matched every single one of my trades for the 2008 year (getting a headstart on taxes this time around!). It...

To all Vista users out there...

Luto- That was an excellent reply, I appreciate it. I think I'll give Vista 64 a try since I do have all new hardware, and I'll test out all my apps on it and if it works for a week then I'll stick with it, if I run into issues I'll go back to XP Pro. Sounds like Vista 64 has shored up a bit...

Quick question: 24" widscreen display height?

That may be a good idea, I'll think about it. I may buy a generic 24" ws from Costco & try it out because I think they allow returns on that stuff.
