what happened @3.55 EST DAX dropped 170 pts! did Eurex go down or only IB?

I thought some terror had happened again. The PBOC announced on boxing day (Asia time) that it was raising rates (not full spectrum). Asian markets behaved ok in the morning. So I don't know. Bund was already selling off beforehand.

    6.371 Double EMA???

peculiar behaviour Tampa. I for one was curious about new research material to read (although ema of ema sounds like a "curve fit"- still interesting to see what it looks like). Don't know why you'd bother creating a thread to give yourself additional, if not brief, emotional hassle...

    Hypnosis Anyone?

I'm curious too. Tell us more bundle. Techniques to enhance emotional control and ingrain effective belief systems might be worth investigating further. Somewhat skeptical from first impressions of his site but am still looking at a bunch of Bandler titles, which would you recommend to...

    Turning $5,000 into $1,000,000

It's interesting to watch you vacillate between moments of humility and utter arrogance on this board. We are all familiar with how trading the markets shows us so much about ourselves, eg. motivations, how we handle wins/losses etc, hence the good advice: treat trading as a business i.e...

    Something very simplistic

Thanks for clarifying that. Lemme correct my statement by adding that a lot of the guesswork is already done. I use the stohs subjectively for my trade objective depending on what I've got going (reversal or pause in a longer term strategy etc, both tradable depending on the time frame- good...

    Something very simplistic

What seems to work for Quah may not work for others, myself included. Don't think the fib time validity is being contested (we are already in agreement that it doesn't work for most parameters- his subjectivity is still a major component that is missing from your evaluation in the trade...

    Something very simplistic

Think the reason this system works so far is its premise. A non conventional concept (trading a high prob. entry for lower reward than risk- albeit a recognized "wrong" point for the time frame he's trading-short) trading a non conventional time frame. Most indicators update every fixed...

    Something very simplistic

Hah. By hand? That would drive me nuts. Can picture you, watching the clock on your computer (or do you have an alarm that beeps every fib number) and your indicator, finger on the mouse button over IB's bid/ask - buy or sell, buy or sell, common 1 pt baby! Computerized auto trading this...

    Something very simplistic

this thread has me excited. Not so much about the potential for making more points/day, but for the simple premise behind your system. I believe you are onto a winner. A noise trader. On any given timeframe it isn't difficult to end up +1 for es. I believe most traders encounter problems...

    Aphie

me too! I agree with the take on TA. Fine when it works, sucky when it doesn't. Downside being if you get lulled into believing something "can't" happen because some indicator hasn't given you a piece of information when price behaviour has already shown what's more likely (this is...

Last Septermber 11th, What Could You Have Done?

"The markets stayed closed. I determined that I would not short when they reopened. It was just something small I could do, to deny myself, to pay some little respect." That's nice. I shorted estx50/dax into 9/11 morning. Why? Well, before I even knew what had happened in New York, prices...

    training the mind before trading?

Sounds like you are scared to lose. You've got to realise that there are no sure things in trading. Perhaps you'd do well spending time introspecting. I know of two books that might help you a little: Trading in the Zone Zen and the Art of Poker At the end of the day, until you are...

    training the mind before trading?

Didn't Marty Schwartz "train" his bowels twice a day for good measure and balance? I suppose whatever "technique" you use, the point being this: churn out some sort of plan. You can zen out all you want before trading, and if that helps you relax, all the better. But, if you are unable to...

eSignal wish list : the dedicated thread

In esignal's defense, it turned out that the problem lay with my machine. Experienced a major client software glitch. Only remedy was to completely wipe all files (not just uninstall) from my system and try again. Works like a charm now. Don't know what caused it, but support was helpful. -end-

eSignal wish list : the dedicated thread

Is anyone else currently experiencing a problem with esignal's advanced charts (for eminis and indices). Normal charts are also showing an entire month (sep) worth of forward trading days (normally only the next day is shown). Only certain intervals are functioning on my adv. charts, namely...
