Trading stocks with the 15 min chart

In: Tx for the post. Great stuff as always. Something for the wish list: Once exited, it'd be nice to see a chart w/ full post-mortem (i.e., "Entered here, lost X on Whip 1, re-entered, lost X on Whip 2, then the rocket move for +X." Total profit/loss: X."). I think seeing the whole trade...

Trading stocks with the 15 min chart

In: Superb thread. Thanks. I wonder if you could kindly provide some input on initial stock selection with this method. I'm intrigued since GP whipped up that spreadsheet so quickly...:) Thanks in advance.

    ts 2000i and esignal

OK - I thought it would be just like ESignal charts - open 'em up, and all the data is there. Dumb question, but do I need to stay connected for a day, or just come back again tomorrow afternoon and try it again? Thanks a bunch, this is a huge help.

    ts 2000i and esignal

Thanks - I have the symbols connected in the Global Server, but when I go to make a Tradestation chart, it tells me, "Data not available for selected range." I set it up for ES H3, 30 days back, 3 minute intraday...should work, no? Thanks again - I've already been through these Setup Wizards...

I just got TS2000i a short while ago - can't quite figure out how to get ESignal data into the Global Server...any help would be great.

    The Importance of Simplicity

Would it be possible to put some data together to illustrate what kind of improvement? I've been considering investigating the typical AM reversal as a kind of swing point and trading it that way, to make use out of the "false breakout" scenario when it occurs. Seems it happens enough to be...

Dynamite idea for a thread, In. Look forward to it.

    The Importance of Simplicity

Thanks for the input, DB, it's appreciated. Since I followed the trading live using 15-minute charts, and posted a query during real-time trading (p. 27) trying to get into the minds of the traders while the scenario was unfolding for real, I really did attempt to avoid any "backwards...

    The Importance of Simplicity

DB's got it about right in terms of my perspective. I'm just watching, poking my head in to ask some questions, and trying to get into the discretionary thought processes being employed by the folks actually trading these approaches (and generously sharing them). Personally, I have a mixed...

    The Importance of Simplicity

Makes sense. Just curious - how long do these trades typically last? (I.e., how much housework can one get done in a day? :) )

    The Importance of Simplicity

That's interesting - because today looks like it would've been a pretty good day for a downside breakout of the opening 30-minute range, provided one could just sit there, hold the position, and watch the market putter all day.

    The Importance of Simplicity

My 10 month-old daughter got me up at 4 AM. Been up ever since - 4 cups of coffee later, I'm more dopey than I was at 4! Hang in there pops! :)

    The Importance of Simplicity

That's still helpful, even if not a real day. If only to get a general idea of the lines along which you're thinking. Which chart are you talking about for the reaction high? 1, 3, 5?

Bon appetit! I might stick some Pop Tarts in the toaster, come to think of it. :)
