I don't think you can for spot forex. rather say not clear since there is no term "spot or cash" for forex transaction descrtption in IRA doc. I am not an expert but that's what I heard from the most of CPAs. I would file as normal captial gain until IRA clearly states that 60/40 splits...

Sounds like you are right but let them worry about their risk. If they can't handle it, they would let you know. If you don't like them, swich your FCM and switch again if you don't like the new one either. just keep switching until you find the right one for you.

ECN style broker is the one without dealing desk to execute your trade. Market Maker (retail FX market maker) is the one with dealing desk to execute your trade. THe broker or market maker with dealing desk doen't mean the bucket shop (broker who trades against their clients). However...

Thanks for your reply I can see you switched to currency future. Did you try any ECN broker like IB before switching to future? I know currency future is centralized and regulated. However for your trading style, doesn't spot forex give you more opportunities?

RedDuke, I saw you from Oanda's forum. You were asking about short-term trading with large tade size like 10mio. How was your experience with Oanda? Did you have any problem with them for trading large size with short-term style?

What's wrong with closing over weekend? Who trades over weekend? I thought all major banks were closed during weekend. No big traders, No liquidity. Am I wrong?

Hmm... I thought they were doing pretty well. It is bit of suprise to me. hoprfully, it is just typo from CFTC. Hate to see another Refco incident here. if it is, that means CFTC regulation is BS and totally worthless. It will hurt entire forex industry big time.
