All market gains since 1993 have occurred after hours

Understood. I don't think any one can automate intraday breakout trading. So much of it is feel for momentum and experience with T&S and slope of average, etc. Sometimes I take profits early and look the fool and sometimes I take them early and look like a genius. Sometimes I hold for the bigger...

Give me a ticker. What stocks do you trade?

Here is the trade on a one hour chart. Time frame is not important. I normally use five minute or fifteen for entries. Basically wherever I can see the best set up.

It works on any instrument on any time frame. That is what makes it robust. You can trade bonds, oil, gold, e minis, softs, basically anything that trades. This is pure support and resistance. It is competitive because it is a breakout retest trade and they are often the best entries with the...

Ok, since you asked so nicely. Here is an edge that will never go away. In the chart posted you can see my entire trade plan. I only buy above the blue 50 period SMA. I only sell below it. I use a 1 period SMA to help me easily see tops and bottoms. You only want to use closes for this not...

Need Advice on A Position (Major Loser) Dollar-Cost Average?

I don't have anything to sell. Yes, though, it would be potentially profitable for the OP to sell calls against the stock to reduce his basis so that he can come to profit sooner or get out with a smaller loss.

Look into Larry Williams. These are exactly the types of set ups he trades. He does have stops, but they are catastrophe stops only. There are many videos on youtube about Larry. This is the type of data he based a career on.

Well thank you for the backhanded compliment. Maybe... we could look at the data that was presented in the thread. The overnight long winning percent was 55%. This means that any good intraday long set up traded after hours has a built in edge. If you ignore short set ups between 1800 and 09:30...

Need Advice on A Position (Major Loser) Dollar-Cost Average?

Ok, if you can trade options in your account here is a plan. Start selling covered calls. You have enough stock to sell two. You should be able to net a few dollars while you wait. I would sell the 17 May 75 strike if I could get someone to pay .50. With two option contracts this will get you...

"That said I think you may also need to calibrate your expectations on what value can even come from such a thread. Traders in their right mind will not reveal any edge. If you really do this for a living, you should understand this is not a collaborative enterprise." Interesting statement...

Another Reason why not to trade with distractions and emotions

If you would learn options it could change your life. I have five weekly SPX iron condors expiring today that is paying out 950 dollars on ten thousand margin. 9.5% on capital in 7 days is worth learning about. Many tons of free info on the internet to learn.

Another Reason why not to trade with distractions and emotions

An option contract is 100 shares. So his ten cent options were ten dollars per contract. He had 750 dollars at risk so setting a .06 limit was saving him 450 of the original 750 paid. He couldn't have known the news was coming and with two days left on the position most traders would have done...
