hey gang, i'm interested in opening an account with IB, for some relatively small intraday S & P E mini trades I want to do. any of you guys got a ballpark on how much cash i need to have in my account to buy ( or short ) a low number of contracts at a time? thanks!

trader07 is right. i know that if you look at an intraday chart for SPY and compare it to the intraday chart for the SP500 there is significant drift between the two time series... i am looking for something that matches the SP or Dow near perfectly...

hi don, this is not at all what i have found. for example, for the last two days, i have placed a pre-market On Open Short order for SII ( Price set to "Market" , Time in Force set to "Open", Exch set to "NYSE" ). SII is on the Reg SHO Pilot. I haven't gotten the fill.... Do you...

hmmm. what about if a stock is on the Reg SHO pilot list? ( i.e. in that case, i believe the down tick rule doesn't apply to it, right...? ) I'd be fine limiting my shorting to these stocks....
