I tend to do the same thing if I'm up well in the morning. Since I use Ninja Trader I will switch over from my actual account to the simulated account. This gives me the actual feel of being in the trade without risking the morning's profits.

For Forex if you hold your position overnight you will either be charged interest or credited interest depending on your position (long or short) and the instrument. If your broker is charging you that much something else is going on.

Yes, stay simple (less than 10 inputs) and try a longer time frame. Nearly every trader I know wants to trade 10 tick timeframes. You won't be ready for that until you have mastered long term and swing time frames first.
