With the overall market on "crack", I had to make a 2nd and final adjustment once SPX touched 1365 (10 points from my short strike). Originally I had 1350/1360, rolled that into 1375/1385, and now I exited my 1375/1385 position, both for October '06. After adding up my wins and losses...

No I haven't but I'm interested in doing so. Currently I trade around 1.5 sigma. Do you trade 1 sigma or are you using support and resistance or both?? I'm not sure I understand. I'm opening credit spreads so I can't let SPX go through my short strike and to the long strike...

As much as this is painful I have to put down my noob trades for today. Here were my SPX positions prior to closeout: 1350/1360 - $0.80 1250/1260 - $0.50 Total Credit = $1.30 Being busy at work I noticed later SPX was climbing 1344+, ran home to make the exit, and paid a painful $5.50...

I hear ya and feel the same way..how can it go higher? I'm hearing the August 2006 housing #s are funny..maybe it's the republican conspiracy? :D I was thinking now might be a good time to buy some SPY puts or a put diagonal. Aloha

Ryan, yah the 1350/1360 is looking ugly. I ran the #s today and figured min $4 to close it which will be PAINFUL. I know you are in a diag, but what are your thoughts for a new position to open?? For example I was thinking about opening at 1360/1370 after to offset the debit..but with OC not...

Well the SPX sure gapped up more than I thought it would. Currently I am in the following Oct 2006 position: 1350/1360 - $0.80 1250/1260 - $0.50 Total Credit = $1.30 My rules call for a 1340 adjustement. I'm not holding my breath hopefully SPX will pull back down a bit :)

Well put..here in "THE OC" Southern California, I heard something like 80% used time-bomb loans: ARMS, IO, Neg AM, etc. because "Real Estate always goes up". Here's some happy reading: www.thehousingbubbleblog.com http://ocfliptrack.blogspot.com/

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

Thanks for your insights your thoughts. I especially like what you say about risk and reward...an interesting perspective as the trading I started beginning of 2006 has been Farther OTM credit spreads and using the 70-80% capital method. I'll start looking through the journal some more at the...

Cache, a great job! How do you select your strike points?? One sigma based upon 1-year historical SPX data?? Are you looking to open some bullish put spreads now or later after the Fed meeting?? Flint

    Vertical Spreads for Aggressive Growth

OK here's a cross-post as this forum seems to be more oriented towards credit / vertical spreads and Coach's seems to be getting into more advanced subjects for this noob. Here's my SPX October positions so far: 9/11/06 opened a 1350/1360 bearish call spread for $0.80. The market has...
