New Day Trader looking for best Platform...

if your style is primarily price action oriented ,discretionary ,and chart flexibility is your primary concern, IB and Quotetracker is a combo that's hard to beat..QT charts are way better than most of the others i looked at in terms of unique ways of looking at price.

"A chart by itself just isn't good enough over the longer run. Go past the intraday time frame and charts become more trustworthy." illiquid..can you clarify a bit? thanks

    any edge in timeframe?

thanks for the replies..definitely have given me some stuff to think about..which is why we are all here, right:) certainly mean't no offense to anyone...In Farley's book he talks about how patterns are less and less reliable as more and more traders come to rely on them. In some cases, to the...

    any edge in timeframe?

come on guys..let's get past trading 101:) The question is this. Are uncommon timeframes more predictive than common time frames? That is, is a 6 min. candle more predictive than a 5 min. candle? Is a 13 min. candle more predictive than a 15 min candle? If 85% of discretionary traders are...

    any edge in timeframe?

I am mostly trading a few individual stocks, occasionally ES, but mostly just a couple of stocks. My trading is discretionary and pretty basic. Support, resistance, a few other patterns, and rigid risk control. I'm not scalping. In fact, i prefer to catch major intra-day moves. My other job is...

    any edge in timeframe?

I have been paper trading for awhile now, and was wondering if there is any edge in the primary timeframe one would use for discretionary day-trading. I typically look at the 5 min chart as the primary view, but was wondering if a more obscure time-frame, such as 7 min. would provide any edge at...

what is the best firm for equities and futures?

spectrx..what is the TWS drawback for daytrading? I have decided to go ahead and open an account with them. They are the only firm that offers same day settlement for stocks within an IRA, that i could find...

what is the best firm for equities and futures?

I have looked at IB and i got to say I'm not too crazy about their platform. It seemed a little non-intuitive to me. Maybe i would get used to it in time. They have also been really slow to answer my email questions about opening an account with them. So, i kind of wonder about their customer...

    forex or futures?

maybe i should have titled this thread "stocks, futures, or forex". Thanks Nazz for pointing toward Velocity. What i have learned,is that margin IRA accounts do exist at a few firms, mostly futures firms. That in effect, eliminates the 3-day settlement problem with a regular IRA account on...

    forex or futures?

I have alot of swing trading experience with stocks over the years and would like to transition to day trading sometime in the next few years. The problem is, all my money is in retirement accounts, so because of the 3 day settlement rule, day tradeing one of those accounts would not be...
