I am shorting Apple currently, primarily because the market seems very touchy right now and my portfolio needs some short positions for balance, and Apple seems as good a stock to short as any.

Which brings me to my follow up question... given how influential ETFs are on individual stock prices, does technical analysis of individual stocks make a great deal of sense in 2013?

As I understand it, the rational behind technical analysis is that it is tracking market psychology and/or institutional investment. Applying it to ETF's does not make sense to me because the ETFs are just a weighted average of the under lying stocks, each of which has its own dynamic. Said...

As I understand it, leveraged ETFs have moderately large fees associated with them that are somehow worked into the pricing over time. Not quite sure how those fees are worked in over time, but I understand the fees to be around 0.9% per year. So holding a long position for a year in a leveraged...
