Dont be afraid of the ivy league competition. I know for a fact all good banks/brokers look for over achievers from everywhere. Just figure out what you owant and do not stop trying.
Sure, Many prop firms are interested. Do you have a series 7 license? Do you have $10k to put up as a deposit? If so, you are in business.

E*Trade is still open for business. They have closed only their prop business. Comparisons to Worldco do not apply. E*Trade's prop business is a small component of their overall business and as such easier to sacrifice in a general re-org, even if it is profitable.
Its hard for people not in the business to understand what trading for yourself is all about. Unless I am prepared for a lengthy conversation, I just say I'm a clerk.
I subscribe to a chat room where the moderator has an open phone line to the floor - I like that better than better than squawk box because it filters out the noise and often provides "local color" - like who's doing what, who's been doing what, who's turning red, green etc... PM me for link -...
The site is relatively new, yes. But the moderator in the advanced room "Billy" has been a trader himself for ages and room chatting for several years. We have a bulk subscription for Redwood traders. It's definitely helped.
