Isn't GOOG a great short right now??

I don't think I would do a short-term short, but GOOG will fall big sooner or later. Look at YHOO, it went strong when it first appeared, and held pretty good... Then it collapsed.

What site do you use to look at bonds? Thanks Robert

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

How do you determine your entry/exit regions, I am interested? Also, what do you guys do when you have a non-active period of several hours (outlined in red on Fridays chart below)? The reason I say 'non-active' is because there are no real changes in price, and when factoring in the spread...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I think I will add something to my 'plan' to try and get around that problem. Beyond the usual stop-losses, I will only trade two losses per day. This means that if I lose the first two trades of the day, I will just figure today isn't a good day, and try again the next day... If I am making...

What hours does everyone trade? Is there certain hours that people find to be more productive?

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

One thing that always worked on equities for me was to trade only a few times, and once I had a nice profit, LEAVE. I found that if I was racking up a decent profit, greed would set it and the 'more' mentallity would start up, and I would lose most of my profit. What I found in equities, is...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I believe I am swing trading (not sure if the timeframes are the same as in equity trading, where swing trading is anywhere from a 25 minute hold to a whole trading day). In forex, I usually look to hold a position for :30 minutes or longer, but of course than can change depending on the...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Anyone short the EUR/USD between 9am and now? Pretty good stuff. I used to trade equity/stocks, and actually find the forex more profitable in the longer run, and more stable. Goodbye to equity, here I come forex...

    Simple System for Beginners

I find all these "systems" interesting. A true system would have to make good use of the chaos variable, which at this point in time, is impossible to calculate.

Giving up is hard to do......

That is possible. Some people become addicted to such things as chat rooms and bulletin board systems such as this. I am a member of other BBs where I have posted well over 3000 times in the past 6 months, and find myself checking replies at least every 25 minutes (unless something important is...

Giving up is hard to do......

Do you not find any benefit from shorting a stock? I am interested in knowing, as I am still paper trading and don't really have experience in selling short.

Giving up is hard to do......

I agree with that... One should choose how they trade based on the overall market. If its on a downtrend, I would play short, if its moving up, then obviously play long. Wouldn't try both at once though...

Is $5,000 enough to get started with trading?

Actually, I have treated my paper trades like the real thing - Mostly because I am using this to show my family and friends that it CAN be done with real money as well (they all doubt that money can be made), so I do get somewhat emotional over losses/very excited for wins (then I remember, its...

Is $5,000 enough to get started with trading?

Hmm... Thats pretty scary. Wonder why the paper trades go so well, and the real trades seem to go so bad. I too have great success on paper, just haven't moved to the real deal yet. As far as the commission rates, I guess these have to be cancelled out by the profit from the stock... So...

Is $5,000 enough to get started with trading?

Well, this thread is kind of old, but I was wondering how the person with $5,000 ended up? I have $1,000 to blow, and I am willing to jump in to the trading game. I may lose it all, or I may not... Either way, it doesn't really matter to me. Anyway... I have been paper trading on a $1,000...
