Sweden Cuts Deposit Rate to NEGATIVE 0.25

Good point Martin. I may have jumped the gun on this one. I think my paranoia of a stamp tax got the better of my judgement. But with all the crazy stuff that has happened in the past year along with very desperate moves by governments, it would not have seemed too far off. Cheers.

    Quantitative Easing

It's all very sad, today's announcement is no reason for celebration. All the Fed is doing is changing the measuring stick. From this point forward, can the Fed create money more quickly than the market is destroying it. I don't doubt their ability to do so as Benny reminded us years ago that...

How are people in Iceland coping?

I think in the case of Iceland, they will never pay back their debts. The country is simply too small and the debts too large. However, in most cases, the country in question simply monetizes the debt over time after a period of default.

How are people in Iceland coping?

Pretty good, I'll check out Elitefisherman. Ha, ha. Who knew that fishermen would make such good bankers? On par with those in the U.S.? I'm curious as to whether there is rationing in the country, do people and businesses still accept the currency, and exactly how does the government pay...

How are people in Iceland coping?

Are there any people from Iceland who view these boards? I'm very curious as to how people and the country is coping with its economic meltdown. Specifically, since the value of the currency has crumbled, how does the economy function? What are people doing to cope with the downturn? Any...

TFSA - Pay Commissions Out Of Cash Account?

Hi Scorbles, I know what you're trying to accomplish by having the commissions taken out of a separate account. It would be great if a person could trade "commission free" within the TFSA so a person could build the account as quickly as possible thereby creating a "tax free" source of income...
