What is the job market like for developers/quants?

How many years of experience do you have and how good are your programming skills? Many quantitative traders start as developers working on the floor.

What is the job market like for developers/quants?

I work as a recruiter for big financial institutions in NYC and can give you some insight. Anybody smart who has a Masters in Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance and such will have an extremely difficult time finding work. Most big banks/trading firms/quant shops...

    Starting out in Prop Trading

It's a tough world the first few years because the learning curve in prop trading is extremely high. With that said your bankroll of 5k doesn't really cut it. At most prop firms you'll need at least 5k down along with extra money to pay for your living expenses until you become profitable...

I went in to check out their shop about a year ago and I wasn't impressed. They provide each trader 2 puny 14" dell monitors with no filters or any other tools. The trading "floor" or the size of a larger bedroom was supposed to fit about 25-30 traders. It looked quite pathetic. IMO if a...

Is Assent LLC a good firm?

I've traded at both firms(Echo previously, Assent currently) and can list the tradeoffs to an accurate account. Assent: The deposit you make at Assent is for "compliance issues" or so they told me but that's only on your initial deposit for a year. My commissions are low and the platform...

    MR 40.00 level

Lost $1500 on that trade...never seen a stock react like that before. Even through significant size. I was expecting it to maybe sell off to the 80s. Another very expensive lesson learned.

    Record of my Trades

Impressive pnl 1reason! I've noticed your exits on winning trades are generally 50-60 cents. Also if your winners are this amount, how much do you risk on each trade? I also trade a similar style, ie trending and capitulation reversals. Curious as to how long you've been trading for. TIA

    Echo Trading

Echo's a good firm with solid reputation but their fees and a little higher than others. On the other hand, the leverage both intraday and overnight are excellent. The Sterling platform is the perfect platform to learn on if you're a new trader.
