I used to do it when I started my trading. Watching TV and listening to all market pundits on business channels but over a period I realized I should listen to my trading strategy and not the noise and everything changed.
2 months of data seems very very less. I had used 1 minute historical data on 10 years of data to back test my strategy so as to ensure it would have passed through all possible scenarios and conditions (Bullish / Bearish / Cyclic / Noisy...).
I would go with the paper trading approach because it helps confirm the overall performance and profitability of the strategy. Only challenge I see is paper trading assumes all trades meeting the criteria are executed while in actual scenario market depth and liquidity decides that. To over come...
I think Day trading should only be done if there is a strategy that has been proven to be profitable over many years and it should be automated in terms of entry / exit.
